2017 Airbag on Pre-2017 Models
Hey guys I'm planning on putting a 2017 86 steering wheel on my 2014 monogram FRS. I'm just missing the airbag (found one on ebay). I just wanted to ask if the 2017+ airbags are plug n play on the older models. I don't know anything about airbags so I wanted to confirm. Thanks.

Pretty sure it is not a direct swap but it is possible. There will be no wiring for the steering wheel controls. I think you need the 2017+ clock spring and a few other things.

It would be easier to just customize your existing horn pad. And in my opinion, that circular 86 emblem is ugly. Check out what I did to mine. This emblem is a little larger than what is usually on these steering wheels, but nobody will think its something else other than a Toyota if they look through your window.
(Not sure why the image came out rotated 90 degrees, just rotate your phone or tilt your head sideways to view it.) |
