How was fitment on your 3DCarbon rear spoiler?
I have been having some issues getting a 3DCarbon spoiler installed on my car. I have had 2 of these spoilers now. About 2 weeks after I got the first one installed, both ends of the spoiler lifted up. I ended up getting a second one and had it installed at a different shop. When I went to pick it up the spoiler was already lifting up in some spots!
How difficult is it to get 3M tape to hold one of these things down? Everything I read says it should be easily strong enough to permanently attach a spoiler. But after going to 2 different body shops and having the tape lift up, I am at a loss. Last edited by Mike_ZN6; 07-01-2020 at 07:48 PM. |

If the tape is separating cleanly, then the area probably wasn't prepped correctly. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does have to be done per the instructions. If it's the paint that's lifting with the tape, then there's your problem. (Not saying it is, it's just that came to mind when reading this)

It looks like in some spots the tape is seperating from the spoiler and staying attached to the trunk. In other spots, it seems the tape is staying attached to the spoiler but lifting off the trunk. Last edited by Mike_ZN6; 07-01-2020 at 11:31 AM. |

The ends of mine are lifting after 14 months. Might have to reinstall. Maybe use heat gun to bend the ends in the opposite direction before reinstalling.
IMO the best-looking lip/spoiler for the twins... |

Remove the spoiler and clean the areas where the 3m tape makes contact.
Before applying it again use this. I've used this before and it definitely helps. Now if the spoiler is warped bad enough that's another story but that adhesion promoter is cheap enough to give a shot. |

are you sure it's genuine 3m tape?
if in doubt, replace the tape with some store-bought real stuff https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotch-Ext.../dp/B005SRECEU

I suspect these were manufactured a long time ago, and where you find "new" items for sale, they are leftover stock. May be best to replace all tape with new 3M in addition to a meticulous prep.

Does anyone know are you supposed to use the 3m adhesive promoter on the spoiler before you apply the tape to it? Or just use it on the trunk?

I purchased a pre-painted FIVE:AD rear spoiler back in 2015. The 3M tape was pre-applied to the spoiler and it came with 3 tubes of 3M adhesive promoter. Followed the installation instructions and it looks as good as the day I installed it. The ends have not lifted. |

How was fitment on your 3DCarbon rear spoiler?
Does this 3DCarbon spoiler cover up all of the holes from the OEM FRS spoiler??
