Oil Drain Pan Reccomendations?

I have a Fumoto valve installed on my car and I only have ramps to drive up on to change the oil. Can anyone recommend an oil drain pan that will fit under and gets the oil transferred to milk jugs cleanly?


I bought a regular 7.1 quart pan, thinking it was enough but I'm guessing the volume spec is a lie because after draining from the engine, the oil was practically to the brim and oil spilled out as I was trying to move it -_-.


I looked online but a lot of what sites are suggesting, the actual user reviews and experience on Amazon doesn't seem to be in line with what they are saying. So figured maybe there are better suggestions here.

why bother with a messy intermediate step? get the hose adapter to drain the oil directly into the jugs...

I use a FloTool oil drain pan. I have the 10-quart and a 16-quart. Both work great.

The FloTool Dispos-oil waste oil container is also a good buy.

Because with a middle step you can put the old oil back into the jugs the new oil came out if

Same here, although this poses a challenge - a 5 quart bottle isn't enough to fill the engine, so you use 2. But at the end of the oil change you have one empty bottle and one that's half full, so you don't have enough room for all the used oil (despite the deceptively large amount of air in the original bottle - ask me how I know). So you still need some extra jugs to store the left over oil. I use a 16 quart open drain pan with a decent drain spigot, it keeps the mess to the pan, which I store upright so no need to clean it (it's only used for oil, not coolent). The enclosed drain pans sound like a great idea (where the pan can serve as a container) but then you'd have to really clean the outside where the oil was.

Got to any autoparts. Buy drain pan that fits your volume. Also buy waste oil container because it’s cheap and easier to fill then the oil jugs.

I know you have the Fumoto drain valve but what about doing oil changes like this with an extractor?

That's literally what I did that lead me to asking here in the first place haha, figured any pan should work. The pan was supposed to be more than big enough but it barely held the oil and flexes all over when full.



I guess a hose line to an empty bottle wouldn't be so bad but I prefer to walk away and come back instead of monitoring the flow.

The first 5 quarts fall out in a couple minutes.
Then swap out another container and you can walk off for a three martini lunch.

Don't forget to put in new oil and tighten down the filter and 710 knob.

NO! NO! NO! - oil should be "drained" NOT "sucked out"-

Sucking the oil out is NOT natural NOR "right".

I suppose you eat grapefruit the "wrong" way too -
