FRS lost substantial power and exhaust quieter?

Hi all,

I was driving today and noticed my supercharged frs had a huge lack of power and later that day i noticed a significantly quiter/different exhaust tone on accerleration. It is so odd. I went under the car today to check for header leaks/exhuast leaks and couldnt find any.

Any ideas on what might cause this???

-c38 supercharger
-JDL UEL catted headers
-custom catback with muflers and resonator

Sounds like the catalyst could be coming apart. Check and make sure it's not lodged in your exhaust somewhere! This could cause SERIOUS damage

That's what i was thinking. Ill go ahead and do this ASAP.

DO you think its ok to just rip out the cat and run it that way? Or should i invest in a new set of headers?

How old are the headers? I'd try to get a replacement through warranty. If there's not something forcing you to use chatted headers, I'd get a catless style and just have a cat in the frontpipe

Are you still making boost? Is it a boost leak?

Just talked to my tuner and the boost is actually way low. Only 3-4 lbs at peak. Hot intake temperatures too which may be a combination of headers and driving in 110 plus degrees.

This may be great news. Now I'd be spray testing every hose clamp on your air intake to see where it's leaking, you shouldn't be down that much, High temps or not, the amount of boost won't change, just its potency as it gets heat soaked

At the risk of stating the obvious, it sounds like something is wrong with the supercharger then? Belt slipping? Maybe some sort of down stream leak?

How old is the supercharger?

SUpercharger is 2.5 yrs old. still under warranty.

I just went into exhuast and found issue. Primary cat exploded and was completely jam packed into the secondary cat. Im surprised the car even turned on lol. I ripped out both cats and the car seems perfect now (just a bit loud).

Thanks everyone!
