Advice for tires.
I just got my 86 a month ago and I need to get new tires.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what tires to get? I want to spend around 500-600. I’m not doing anything crazy with it yet, so I don’t need any really high performance tires or anything. I’m on stock rims so I don’t think I can go any wider then 215. All help is appreciated. |

Advice for tires.
Stick with the stock size
In order of performance, can’t go wrong with these 4: Falken FK510 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 Michelin PS4 (out of budget but the performance benchmark for a street tire) Even the Falken will be a nice step up in grip from the stock tires. |

I upgraded the stock ones to Hankook Ventus V2 A/S tires; pretty grippy, good cornering but kinda weird in braking. They are much grippier than stock and actually prevent me from drifting in the dry. I'd recommend them as long as you don't have an issue with upgrading spring rates as they do bring out how soft the springs are.

Continental ExtremeContact Sport are just a hair over your $600 budget. But you get almost Michelin PS4S levels of performance.

Dont sleep on bfgoodrich sport comp 2 uhp summers. Indy500 probably best bang for buck. I agree, keep stock size tire for your stock wheels

You guys are so lucky as you have an abundance of tyre choices in OEM fitmet.
I have decided to get new tyres this July, shortlisted Michelins, playing with Pilot Sport 4 or the Cup 2. No Pilot Sport 4 S option in the UK in OEM size. |

I had Michelin Pilot super Sport on since 7 years ago. I think it's discontinued now but may be equivalent to the PS4 now. I really like the tire It's really grippy even in wet. Now after 7 years the back has maybe 2mm of tread left, and front has minimal wear. is it recommend switching back and front on a square setup to get more life out of it? or should I just get new set? Would it understeer if I swap front and back? |

The guy left with a set of Falkens a few posts ago. I also went with Falken 510s. I have yet to push on them, but they feel mushier than the Conti ECDW I came from.

The only draw back with the FK510s is that they're a bit softer compared to others. My understanding is that they're designed around luxury performance, giving up a bit of turn in response.
Not an ideal sports car tire but still a good tire none the less. |
