Putting back the transmission. Please help
Did a clutch change and all that. Hours and hours the transmission will not go back in. No matter how hard we try. Im spinning the driveshalf from the rear of the transmission. And its in 4th gear so still nothing it gets stuck on the studs on the bottom.
Theres no wires. The fork and the TOB seem to be fine. Dont understand Update: We got really close but the top had about a 1inch gap from meeting and bottom had about 1/2 gap from meeting. Dropped the trans back down. Used the alignment tool to check and it only went in about 1 inch. We took out the clutch and noticed marks on the grooves/splines in the clutch. And then noticed fractures. 8 of them to be exact. Ughh Lesson learned. Gonna use the old one sinche i still got 65% of it still on it. Gonna give it a go tomorrow morning! Update again: success!!! we finally got the trans in and everything. we pulled the clutch and all that and reinstall with the alignment tool again. thanks for all the help and advice! you guys rock! When I did my clutch it was almost flush till half an inch.
I tried everything. What I eventually did was put in the bolts and slowly and evenly tightened them like lug nuts. Sure enough it sat flush. Zero problems afterwards.

What you describe sounds like it is not going into the pilot bearing. You may half to back off the bolts for the clutch and recenter the tool by moving it around and slowly resetting the bolts. The plastic tools are not great.

Both guide pins are in place? If one fell out you'll never get it lined up.
