Has anyone made a move from a high power/torque car to a FR-S? I am a bit worried about making the move. 150 ft lbs is pretty low. I did have an AP1 S2k that put out similar torque but was a hoot to drive. However it did put out 40 more HP. My current car is no slouch in the handling department so its not like its going to be an even trade off.

I had a e90 M3 (had to get rid of it because wifey couldn't drive stick & has a kid). I got back in the game by getting an immaculate e46 m3. Yes power is down a lot, but it's still fun for me. I got it as a beater, but I'm surprised how much I like it.

I came from a M3. Several before that......turbo M3, Z06 Vette, turbo 240's. Yes this car is leaking some power but driving it makes you forget about it. I don't mind it at all. Def not a car that is going to be out drag racing because it is by no means meant to do that. I do have plans on adding a turbo but only want about 250 whp out of it. Don't let that stop you from at least test driving it because it is what made me buy it instead of a new M3.

If power is a priority which you are looking for in a vehicle, I would not recommend the FR-S in that specific case. However, I've been taught that 'enough power' is subjective to each person... I personally feel that the FR-S has enough power for me.

Also, I spotted in your details that you currently drive a 5.0 Mustang... And if you're comparing to that beast, then you'll surely be let-down in the power department... But if you can somehow only focus and appreciate on what truly makes the FR-S shine, you will be a happy camper.

If you're still confused, I'd say hook up with a local FR-S owner within your regional forum section, and see if they'd spare a few moments and take you for a spin.

If you are worried about the power being too little, you will be disappointed. Save yourself a headache and don't get this car, it is slow.

If you're comparing to an S2K, there isn't enough of a difference to regret buying the car. Hell I only slightly regret coming from a 2011 Camaro SS and 370Z, even with the power deficit I could see myself enjoying it with stock engine for the most part. You just have to drive it in the areas where it excels, which is the handling and steering input. I, however will be boosted soon so I'll have way more fun than I ever did with my Camaro or 370. But coming from an S2K you'll barely notice anything.

Is this the only thing people care about with this car? If you really want a fast car get a god damn mustang or something. I've always felt this car to have a perfect amount of power and it is far from lacking it.

got news for you; I came from a much slower car, a "91 Toyota Celica with 135 hp, and still have a "07 Tacoma. Although this is so much fun to drive in turns and has quick response, I personally know it would be sooo much funner if it had more power. I bought this as a Celica replacement to get good gas milage, so i'm happy. However I got spoiled. Going up a hill it sounds like it's going faster but appears to be going in slow-motion, even when down-shifting and stepping on it. Turns are awsome!!! but, eventually you come out of them and I find myself wanting more power.

Where I live there are tons of fun roads with all kinds of crazy turns. If I lived in a place that mostly had straight-aways, I"d probably go for something faster that got decent gas milage.

Most others seem to dissagree with this, but, my advise: TEST DRIVE ONE FIRST AND STEP ON IT!

I have a friend who owns a B5 S4 that is dropping upwards of 800 horse at the crank, I let him take it for a spin with me in the passenger seat. He had a huge grin on his face for the rest of the night. He couldn't get enough of throwing the back end out. The car is so much fun that I forget about numbers when I drive it.

Real talk, numbers are the absolute worst way to describe it. The fun factor is out of control when you just throw it around and just go for a drive.

I don't have an Zx6 yet (but have driven and AutoXed), but when I do, I would have been coming from a 94 Supra that made about 550HP, and I'll tell you what, I don't regret leaving the Supra a bit.

Of course, you don't have the force of Norse Gods under your foot anymore, but you have a car that makes you want to drive hard and try to tame without being incredibly irresponsible in the process.

A car that I can try to get 9/10ths out of will always be more satisfying in every way than a car I am afraid to drive at even 6/10ths.
