Question on the sound my car makes.

Everytime I accelerating my car on 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd gear, it makes a click sound which pretty noticeable. And when I let off the throttle and step on it again. It makes the click sound too. I can put some tape to show you the sound. Anyone know what's wrong with it? It's been like that for a long time. It doesn't seem like it is hurting my car. Car runs the same as before.

Where does the sound come from? Engine bay? Rear of the car? Is it more noticeable with the back seats down? Left side, right side?

A lot of us are happy to help you out but give us something to work with here. If it is coming from the rear of the car it is common that the CV axle nuts come loose and it will click.

It's from outside of the car. It sounds like it's from the rear. I thought it was a clutch problem. So I replace the clutch with Exedy a whole kit as well as a new clutch fork and bearing. However, the sound stayed and didn't go away. And now I remember it has this sound ever since I did couple donuts long time ago. It's a 2017 brz limited with performance package.

The rear axle nuts are a pretty common one. For some people it never completely goes away. On mine I had to replace the nuts and re-torque them.

Thanks I would try it out. Hopefully nothing is broken. If it is something broke then oh boy I've been driving my car with broke parts for a year lol.

whoaaaaaaaa

When I read "axle nut" I was thinking maybe the nuts that hold the axle to the diff. (Not exactly sure what the set up on these cars is). Did not at all even cross my mind that the issue is the big axle nut on the outside of the hub.

Yikes. If that big boi is coming loose, that's pretty scary tbh. Should be like ~200 ft/lbs of torque and staked so it should never come off by accident.

It's not falling off or anything like that. It's just that the driveshaft splines and the axle hub developed some play between them. The axle nut is swaged into place after it has been torqued. That makes the nut a single-use item. Must be replaced.
