is it possible? will that be too much of a stretch if i wanted to put rota grids 17x9 (5x100/e42/73) with the stock wheels? i know most of you know what the wheel looks like but here is the link. i want to know if this will work. i wasnt able to find anything when searching. http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...e7bfe9e5297111

215 on a 9 is a 'mild-to-aggressive' stretch

Just google '215 on a 17x9' and you'll get various forum posts about it. Its fairly common for S2000 owners to run a 17x9 on the front with a 225 because of their fenders.

215 on a 9" rim? I wouldn't do it. I would run at least a 235 on a 9" rim. But I'm definitely a function over looks person.

Yeah but stock is 215...

Here's a pic of some 17x9 Grids with 215/45 Dunlop Z1 tires. Some tires stretch better than others just like some tires run taller and wider than others. A 215/45 on a 17x9 isn't anything that crazy though there are more functional tire sizes available that would work well. (if that's what you're looking for)

Federal SS595 tires run a bit wide and I've used them on the front and rear before. Great tires, and are really cheap too. I used a 235/40 on a 17x10 using those tires and there wasn't much stretch at all. Take away 20mm and 1" of wheel width and you're left with your scenario you're asking about.

I'd do it.

that looks pretty bad ass not going to lie... anyone know if its safe to run a tire like that? i mean the only reason i want to do it is so i dont have to buy wheels and tires right now i am still paying for the car!

"safe" is going to be a debate on this forum.

If you make sure you're running proper tire pressure, then that will help lower the risk of the tire de-beading. It's not that much of a stretch though anyways so I don't think it'll be much trouble.

If you're not running ridiculous camber and you can make sure to check your tire pressure every once in a while, I don't see why not. I ran stretched tires on my DD for over 4 years without any issues except for one-which was because of low tire pressure.

Thats a bit misleading, the 215 dunlops in that pic are nearly as wide as some brands 235mm. The stock 215s are much narrower so it won't look that good of a fitment.

Very good point, and the sidewalls are nowhere near as stiff on the stock tires either. I wouldn't do it for a number of reasons.

Step one: Go to Wheel Directory: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535

Step two: Look for wheels with 17x9 size... and check topics for tire size.

Of course, since I am running 17x9 +30 Rota Torques on my car I can just save you the trouble.

I have 215/40-17 in front and 215/50-17 in rear with a 2+" drop on D2 coilovers.
