Anyone thinking about getting their car repainted?
With all the complaints about thin paint, rock chips, etc. Is anyone considering just getting the car repainted with a better paint job than factory? Would such a thing even be worthwhile?

Me, I was actually about to post a thread about it. I have the whiteout FR-S and i love the color but the paint is just way too thin and i hate that they charged me an extra 220$ for the paint.

You can pay the few extra grand for a better paint job, but it still leaves it vulnerable to scratches and rock chips. You might end up getting a clear bra for the new paint as well, so just save yourself the headache and get the bra now.
I got full front clear bra and opticoat and definitel no regrets. |

I'd get a full wrap personally, instead of a re-paint.

I have XPEL ultimate for the entire front (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights) as well as my rocker panels. It's already paid for itself when something fell off a truck and put a scratch up the hood. I watched the scratch disappear.
The rest of the car is done in Wolf's Hardbody. |

Is this question for real? That's like saying; "I know my shocks are going ware out one day. Should I just replace them now?" The answer, in my mind, is no. Protect the paint as best you can. Take care of the car. And down the road if you want to re-paint it go big. But re-painting a brand new car because you are worried the current paint job will not look god in the future seems illogical. I suggest not worrying about painting it until it becomes a real problem. Until then, enjoy it while it's new and looks good.

I'm replacing my windshield next week. There's nothing wrong with it now, but I know it's eventually gonna get a chip or crack.

When filming and opti coating most places do the following:
Prep car film opti coat everything (including film) Applying OC before the film makes the paint pretty tacky for the installer, it can be done but it's kind of a waste of OC and you'll irritate your film installer. When my film guy and me do OC/film I will generally wash, clay, decon, correct areas to be filmed, let him film, then re-wash and proceed with the detail.
