HID Questions

I was looking on TRS and the HID kits from Morimoto come with an option for a CANBUS adapter versus a standard relay. I don’t believe my BRZ, or our cars in general from any year, have a warning system for the headlights, so I don’t know if this means I don’t need them, BUT I CAN still utilize these for a simpler install, or if it means our cars lack the (universal?) harness, so they can’t be used.

Also, they offer an anti-flicker adapter, which is good for cars with pulse modulation or something. Is that needed?

The HID bulbs all look identical except for the bases, so the H7 and D2H both look and (I’m assuming) perform identical, so I’m trying to decide if I should get the H7 or the D2H for my Vlands. I heard the headlights were made for D2H, but some say H7 work, which they do for the halogen, temporary bulbs I have in them now, but the bracket doesn’t seem like they were made for H7.

Lastly, I want to get a color that matches the factory vertical DRLs and the Vland boomerangs at 35w ballasts. Should I buy 5500k or 6500k? I would rather be white to white/blue than white/yellow.

I have an old HID kit I retrofitted to my car. The plugs that it came with for an acura fit on my car. Don't think we need the anti-flicker. I'm sure my old kit doesn't have it. It works fine.

Get bulb base's that are for the headlights. I had to carefully modify mine.

Also, I have 6000K HID, they are blu-ish. I would suggest 5500K, it's a nice white with a slight bluish tint. The higher the number the dimmer (and more purple) they will seem. Your eyes pick up less of the light the higher the kelvin rating. Can't say if they will match. But it's a good color for headlights.

I ended up getting the anti-flicker module, the HD relay, and I got the 6500k bulbs. The D4H bulbs fit perfectly and everything works great so far. It was a relatively easy install.
