Paddle Shifter Covers/Replacements

I'm on a quest to replace all of my interior silver trim with black OEM trim, but I've run into a problem: the silver paddle shifters. Replacement paddle shifters are prohibitively expensive and difficult to find, so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. I've searched for paddle covers, but none seem to exist. While plenty of paddle shifter extentions are on the market, none of them cover the front of the paddle shifter, leaving that (imo) ugly silver exposed.

Does anyone have a solution for covering the paddle shifters? I've thought about using vinyl sticker wrap or paint, but either would probably look like crap.

maybe follow these instructions so you can pop them off and wrap/color them precisely? I don't see why they would look like crap
