We have started this project and I felt obligated to let all the members know.
Oh and it weighs less than 11 lbs. Sit tight

"Waaaaa the aluminum will break and shit"
If you have a wife and/or girlfriend you probably won't want this exhaust. Its going to be loud. But classy like a Guns and Roses concert. Droning on the interstate? Probably. Turn your radio up. Did I mention they are full vband and priced 200$ lower than every other cat back? |

Good luck to you, but don't expect this exhaust to last very long if you're using it on the street.

What happens when they wear out? Just curious.

Any pictures? Complete straight pipe or is there a resonator/muffler somewhere? I'm okay with loud but not obscenely loud. A track pipe muffler delete eliminates the bulk of the catback weight but well, it looks like a track pipe.

If you're going to attack this project you need to do some series research into tubing thickness and more importantly heat management. Aluminum tubing does not like high heat and the constant, quick heat-cycling that comes with use on a street car (think rapid thermal expansion and contraction of a brittle metal). On top of that, there's a reason why aluminum is used for performance radiators other that its light weight - good heat conductivity. If you're going to put it on a non-race car, load up on the heat shielding, especially close to the catalyst and around the exhaust tip, otherwise you're going to have burns and melted plastics. There's a reason why those looking for lightweight exhausts go for Titanium as the primary choice. |

They don't wear out. If you drag it like you would a SS muffler it will rip open. I can't release a lot more information yet only because we don't have it but it will use a Vibrant aluminum muffler that is placed almost immediately after cross over pipe. The muffler is 16 in long so it wouldn't fit under the rear bumper anyways and then going this style we can hang the pipes as close as possible to the chassis with out dragging it anywhere. The tip will be one single 3 in tip that comes out at an angle (think HKS HiPower).
This probably won't be an exhaust for everyone as I've notice people want something "factory" looking |
