Questions on my wheel choices
So I have gtf1 rims 17x9 +35 with 245/40/17 tires and love how flush it looks. Also on ohlin coilovers if that makes any difference. I'm a car noob sorry
. But I found a great deal on ce28sl 18x8 +48 and planning on using them as my daily in summer. Also planning on buying used volk te37 16x7 +46 for winter use. Are these two wheels okay to use as my daily and maybe 1-3 autocross use with spacers? What tire sizes and spacers would you guys reccomend for me ? Thanks. |

have you checked the fitment chart in the wheel section? google "ce28 ft86club" and "te37 ft86club" and it'll show you all the threads and what the owners did about the fitment and if there was any rubbing, tire sizes etc

BTW, if you don't mind paying for two suspension alignments per year, i suggest using different aliignment (amount of neg. camber wise) in winter vs summer (+mentioned autocross tracking). After all, max side-Gs in winter on ice/snow (and even on dry tarmac in cold temps) are much lower prior grip loss, so tires don't get that much deformed to need lot of negative static camber to make optimum contact patch/grip, unlike in summer on dry tarmac track.

Love the GTF1 wheels! They looks awesome! I almost ordered them... Shipping was the deal breaker...
Both wheel sizes will bolt on without spacers. (Providing they are 5x100 of course) Unless you have money to burn, getting Volk wheels for winter wheels is excessive IMO. (I would just run the stocks in winter)

Leonardo: you missed "used" bit for Volks. For example my forged wheel sets did cost to me 400eur including shipping. Affordable enough, i'd say

Yes, thank you. OP, Post some picks when you get your ce28sl's wheels installed! I suggest either a 215/40/18 or 225/40/18 on 18x8. (Depending on if you like a bit of stretch or square tire) I have not run 16s on this car. But a 225/50/16 or possibly better yet for winter (I know ChurchX will approve of a narrower tire with bigger side wall) 205/55/16. IDK what brand of spacers will match volk quality... (additionally you don't need spacers for these two sizes) 18x8 & 16x7 But, to flush things up offset wise, you could run 25mm spacers all around on both sets. ( or 30mm spacers on the 16x7's)

approve, or not, everyone is free to get any wheels and any tires one wishes as to everybody it's own car, own money and own likes/dislikes/preferences set. Just that my own experience was that i didn't like (lack of) grip of wide winter tires on snow flush (relatively "wide", of stock 215 width) i got in first winter i got this car, and going narrower in winter is common knowledge, hence my choice aswell ever since that first winter to get more grip on ice/snow.
