Best Wheel/Tire Combo based on these choices?

Hi Guys,

Looking to lighten my wheels just for a minor efficiency/acceleration and overall improvement. No competitive performance in mind - Tropical country. No snow. And I dont want to change my speedo/odometer reading dynamics. Can you chime in on the options for each wheel/tire and recommend your best combo?
(i.e. A1+B3)

A. Wheel Options: (Lightest/cheapest)
1. Kosei K4R 17x7 14lbs +50mm
2. Enkei RPF1 17x7 14.8lbs +42mm
3. Enkei RPF1 17x7.5 15.2lbs +48mm
4. Motegi MTR131 17x7 Traklite 16.7 lbs +45mm
X. Dream wheel is BBS RF Forged 17x7.5 +48mm 14.3 lbs! (not part of choices)

B. Tire Options
1. PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ 215/45 R17 21 lbs
2. DIREZZA DZ102 215/45 R17 22 lbs
3. VENTUS V12 EVO2 215/45 R17 19 lbs
4. Retain Stock Primacy HP 215/45R17 20 lbs

On a side note.. If all the aftermarket tires are an upgrade.. why is the Stock Primacy HP on our car nearly twice the price of the ventus or direzza? and more expensive than the PSS?? (on tirerack)

tire weights might be something you want to consider too. Those tires won't all weigh the same despite being same size. As far as speedo goes, retaining stock tires will be most accurate unless the rolling diameter of those tires are exactly the same as stock tires.
Just want to learn, why are you interested in staying stock offset? Although gaining half an inch in wheel width doesn't bother you.

Hi! Edited my post to include wheel weights. Just really trying to stay as stock as possible. However, i noticed some wheels have a wider width at 7.4mm so I am actually willing to settle with a 7.5 wide tire to "fit the wheel better" but if possible, want offset to be close to stock look as possible

If you're going with a relatively skinny wheel like that (7-7.5 wide), consider getting a ET35 offset, it looks much better IMO than the 45mm offset.

I would have to agree to go with a more aggressive offset, something around a +35. With that, RPF1 17x7 +35 with DZ102 or V12 Evo2.

My vote is to go as light as possible while still gaining some negative offset - RPF1 17x7 +42mm with the Ventus Evos.

I am a big fan of the v12 evo2's, they are decent tires and super cheap. I am not a fan of the RPF1 look with a convex face. the extra .5 lb shouldn't be noticeable, just get what you think looks best.

I have RPF1 17x7.5 +48mm wheels and am currently running Direzza DZ102 215/45/17 tires. Love the wheels and fitment of a 215 tire on a 7.5 wheel. The DZ102, I am lukewarm about. It's a good tire on dry pavement; it sucks on wet pavement. I had the PSS (they were great) before the DZ102s. When the DZ102s go I will replace them with something else. Perhaps the Pilot Sport 4S assuming they will be out in our size by then.

Michelin Pilot A/S3+ is an excellent tire for this car. The Primacy is expensive in part because it is a very good tire in its class. The Primacy gets a bad rap which should be directed more at the original chassis setup. The same tire is fitted as stock to the 2017 which has a significantly improved chassis setup with very good results.

All other things equal, light wheels and tires beat bigger wheels and tires.

Hi GForce! Could you help expound this? I am really dumbfounded as to why the OEM Primacy on the car is 2x the price of other "peformance" aftermarket options listed. Like what does it have that others on the list dont? if i dont track, does it basically mean i should stick to just the OEM tire ?

Basically because it can be. The majority of customers will have tires replaced at the dealer, thus replacing them with primacies. Michelin can price the OEM tires higher with little impact on sales numbers because of this.
