A very pleasant surprise
New twin mobile, found the Oem 17 wheels and stock primacy tires to be loud. Much more so at highway speed.
Put on winters today, 16’s blizzaks, the combo was immediately way quieter . As in normal sedan quiet. I put in ear plugs both times to test, and they are great at isolating wind noise, and letting tire noise come through loud and clear. With the primacy, the noise was loud and then much louder at highway speed, but the blizzaks were quiet and the barely louder at highway speed. Completely didn’t expect this, just the opposite, Does anyone have any oem tire size, 17” tire recommendations that run quieter than primacy? |

Well here's the thing you missed, tire sidewall.
16" tires have more sidewall thus absorbing/softening road noise. As for recommendations for 17"s there are boat loads. Only problem you have to give up performance for comfort. Your better off getting all season then summer tires.

I had them put on my first (of 4) winters. I was going to rotate them with my OEM tires (for summer). However, I haven't switched them out for the last 5 years. Why? Because I find the Goodyear tires quiet up on the highway, they hold the car in the corners in the dry, they are stable in the wet and they do right well on our light snowy roads. So, why switch. Now they have 5 years and 24,000 miles (with a 50,000 mile warranty). I figure they will outlast me having the car. Happy Turkey Day! humfrz |

![]() You telling me - ![]() Five years ago, I traded a perfectly good NC Miata in on our FR-S. Why? Because we had toured 88,000 miles of the mid and northern parts of the US from the West coast to Saint Louis and Western Canada. Now, the plan was to tour the Southwest and South. mrs humfrz was tired of the cramped, top down, roadster mode of transportation, so, I looked for a coupe (a bit larger, more room and quieter) that was still fun to drive. Bingo, the FR-S fit the bill - ![]() Meanwhile, out daughter and son-in-law had a third child. Yep, you guessed it, we became daycare grandparents and it is impossible to separate ma-ma from her granddaughter. So, the long haul touring with the FR-S is on hold. THE END humfrz |

I like to recommend Continental Extreme Contact DWS.
They're known for a softer sidewall so its actually comfier than pure summer tires, but they still perform very well. Plus they have surprisingly good snow performance. |

![]() You're the second one to tout the snow performance. I had dedicated winter tires the last few years so didn't get to test that aspect but might this year if I replace them rather than my worn out winters (Conti WC). |

Hankook Ventus V12 Concept2 are really quiet tires in my experience. Not the Evo2, mind you. I imagine the Evo2 isn't loud either, but I only have personal experience with the Concept2 tires. They are a high performance all season, but they're pretty good regardless. Awesome rain grip
