TPMS issues

So I purchased new wheels and brought them to Discount Tire to have tires mounted. I have my old set in the garage so I did not have the original TPMS sensors switched over. I bought new sensors from them and they said they would work. Brought them home, mounted them, light is on since they hadnt been programned yet. Brought the car to them to have the sensors programmed to the car. I have had my car in a few times now and even had then switch to different sensors to no avail. Light continues to blink and go solid after a 20 mile drive.
The tech at DT said he programmed their sensors into the car and it should be working.... But a different guy there said I need a factory reset to which I am calling BS.
From all my reading it seems as though I need to buy the factory sensors as they are the only ones that will work with a BRZ. Or the Denso 550-0105 TPMS Sensors. What do you all know about these stupid sensors? I just want them working.... And I'm thinking about having them swap out for cloned ones which I will purchase and have them refund what I bought from them since they sold me something that will not work.
Edit: this is for my 2014 BRZ....

Here's my story from a few weeks ago, similar to yours. Took my car with the original sensors mounted in aftermarket wheels (for the past 65K miles) to a shop to fix a tire with a nail. The shop broke the OEM sensor and replaced it with an aftermarket one and programmed it. Blinking light then solid. So the shop replaced the sensor with another aftermarket and programed it. Same result.

Ended up having to take it to the dealership...they couldn't get the aftermarket sensor to program either. They put in a factory sensor and $290 later all is good. Even better, the shop paid for it.

Made me wince every time they put my pristine wheel on the mounter however....

Hard to believe the dealership expects me to spend almost $300 just to replace a sensor. Told me I should have brought it them first...just to patch the tire. About half that cost was the sensor. Guess that's why I never go to the dealership!
