Please recommend UEL catted header.

This is a post requesting recommendations as to which are the better performing UEL catted headers and which vendors are known to be capable of delivering this product in a timely manner while communicating promptly with clients.

My first attempt to acquire one such header resulted to an instantaneous charge to my card followed by a complete void in communications (Email only possible), no invoice and no status. Since this affair is now in its 3rd week I am looking for alternatives.

Thanks all.

Did you not even bother to check from reputable vendors?

Ft86speedfactory and JDL have the best catted uels on the market right now, also I must ask why catted? Does Florida even do any testing besides obd2? Also buying a header without a tune is basically like throwing your money away.

Personally, imho, for those prices you could buy something like a Gruppe catless uel and a OFT and be done with it unless you really really need a catted option. In fact with either choice you really should get a tune.

FT86 Speed Factory and then also buy an open flash tablet to take advantage of said header.

I am asking because being new at the BRZ my knowledge of the vendor environment and reputations is quite limited. I already made one mistake too many.

Catted because I am bi-coastal and this car may at some point be registered in SoCal.

Tuned? Well, off course. And keep on tuning I guess between 91 and 93 RON.

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure regardless of catted or uncatted it's going to be very hard to run a header in california, none of them are carb approved. You'd need to swap to stock at some of the more strict inspection locations.

If you're staying NA I can personally vouch for the OFT, it's been quite useful and made a huge difference on my car running a catless UEL.

Thank you.

California inspection severity varies based on the specific location of the registration. CARB is resourceful but they have limits.

Good to know that the OFT works well on the BRZ in NA state which mine will remain.

Finally the JDL ^^^ is not catted.

Interesting that you don't read links, it is indeed catted like what I had posted:

https://www.86speed.com/jdl-unequal-...-header-w-cat/

All of them will have a high flow cat 200-400 cell seems to be the standard.

The gruppe UEL in the original post is the only one not catted.

Thank you.

If the emmissions testing in Cali is strict then your unlikely to pass with anything other than stock header and anything but stock tune.

So id recomend you just get a catless header it will perform better usually be cheaper and but a tune device such that you can easily flash back to stock when needed and refit stock header

steve99: but how about as alternative "for Cali", - try to maximize gains with rest of boltons changing everything BUT stock header? From cons probably non eliminated torque dip / higher costs .. but from pros - no rebolting needed prior inspection?
What might be approximate estimated max gains with tune + complete bolton mods set (even as intake one can use TRD's which is carb certified/compliant) except header?

Unfortunatly the stock header\cat is the most benificial part to change . The rest of exhaust makes little difference.

Cars tuned on stock header on petrol especislky california 91 gains are small

If you dont want to change header best option in cali would be run E85 and tune with stock header

No harware change and very easy to run tank out of e85 and flash back to petrol tune

Running e85 and tune only way you will get decient gain out of car with stock header

Except it's almost impossible to get E85 here . Hence why i asked that "everything but header" potential, as IIRC perrin, even though gains were not that high, still managed to gain some with their catback, intake and such.

Intake and catback gains are anecdotal and will probably diminish over time once the ecu figures things out.

But not as if non existing gains at all. Also, something slightly can be gained from secondary decat, which is not detected/used in any way by tune/O2 sensors, which are upstream for that.
What i wanted to find out if it's possible to get at least 50% of catless header gains with doing all the other bits.
