ACE 350 header running cooler

Had my ACE 350 header installed last week, still working on the tune revisions but I do notice the engine and oil temperatures are cooler than with Tomei header. I guess this is a good thing right?

Yes it is ceramic coated, but my Tomei header was thermo wrapped as well.

I bet the coolant temperature is in your head, unless you were overheating before the thermostat in the cooling system regulates temperature really well.

Unless you were heat soaking the oil pan with the old header, I doubt it's actually directly caused by the header swap either.

No it wasn’t overheating before. Before, the temp was at the midway level, now with the new header after same amount of driving, the temp needle is at the 1/3 mark.

Better to check your thermostat.

It's in your head, or the driving conditions are different. There's simply no way that in normal driving the old header was heat soaking the whole engine so badly that the new one is making the gauge show a different reading.

As the other guys said if your coolant temp guage is now only getting to 1/3 of dial instead of 1/2 you have problem with thermostat guage or coolant level.

the standard gauge is set up to read 1/2 scale at about 90-95C which is normal coolant operating temp.

If its only getting to 1/3 max then likely you have some issue, log the actual coolant temp in degrees using your ecutek cable

I need to pay more detail attention on the temperature fluctuations. The 1/3 vs 1/2 was my general impression after the ACE header and Delicious Tune. But sometimes when the car is parked with engine running, the thermostat does creep up to the halfway mark. But when the car starts moving, it’ll dip below the 1/2 mark. While driving it’s generally between 1/3 and 1/2.

I did check the log I just sent to Delicious Tuning, during the 3rd gear moving log, the coolant temp were between 87-89 degrees, and oil temp were between 97-98 degrees. This log was taken after the car been idled for 15 minutes from a cold start while collecting another set of logs.

most cars the temp guage will just sit at 1/2 once warmed up, the thermostat n combination with electric fans will keep coolant around the 90 degree mark, if you see it dipping much below 90 or so you probably got thermostat issues unless you have changed to lower temp thermostat

Its possible to recalibrate the coolant tmep sensor in btune tables but its not something normally needed or normally done

Why the thermostats all of sudden having problem? Is this because of the header install? According to the log I’m couple degrees below the normal point, will this cause any harm on my car?
