Wheel Recommendations?

Car: 2013 Subaru BRZ at stock height, stock body. Keep in mind I don't plan on lowering it!

What model and make of wheel would you guys recommend if I wanted to run 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5/10 in the back? Basically I just want wide back wheels haha.

I tried looking into Cosmis MRII which are very nice AND have the sizes I want, but their 18x8.5 are the only ones available in 5x100.

Let me know what you guys would recommend and thank you in advance!

what do you use the car for? Staggered is just a terrible idea unless all you care about is looks.

What is your budget?etc...

Money is no issue, and I'm partially going for looks. I've taken a look at the car though and I if I want wide rears I should just put a meaty tire on an 18x9 to be honest.

Worst comes to worst I might go with square Cosmis MRII 18x8.5 with some good sized tires.

Just that many like in this car it's handling. And of course it's dissapointing to see for someone willingly pay money to fsck it up. Well, if you never driven one, you'll probably won't know what you'll miss, and may think that it's understeering pig out of factory

Most people agree that 18s on stock height look worse than 17s, myself included. The lower profile tire required by the taller wheel seems to accentuate the wheelwell gap.

I'm actually tossing around the idea of staggered setup myself. TRDs 18's are staggered by one size, and I was considering the same (245s in front, 255s in back). Lots of Rays wheels come in 18x8.5 and 9.5, so there's a place to start looking.

FYI, I recently watched a video on youtube where they tested staggered and squared setups and the BMW they were testing on didn't become an "understeering pig" until it was something like 225s in front and 285s in back. Smaller changes (it was staggered from factory, but they tested going to a square setup, 225/255, 225/225, 255/255, etc) did effect laptimes very slightly (like fractions of a second per lap) but would be fine on street. So I would assume that an even smaller difference (245/255) would be okay for street use.

Aipex8: twins with stock alignment already are more on understeerish side. Why make it even worse then that?

Have you considered offsets at all?

With a 18x9.5 or 18x10 you're likely going to get a lot of poke in the rear regardless of what your offset is.

Just know that with those wide "back" wheels and tires your car is going to feel substantially slower.

XXR 527F 18x9 & 18X10 Forged wheels are WIDE, look amazing IMO, and are a decent price for forged wheels.

Or get a square setup either size will work with the correct accompanying suspension parts. ( you said $$$ was not an issue)

Keep in mind, almost all the BMW cars are staggered setup to begin with vs twins are square. That alone make a huge difference in suspension and drive quality.

Anyways back on topic, you don't have to have wider wheels or tires to make it aggressive. You can get 8" width with offset of 30~40 to poke out to make it nice, while keeping the tire cost low by running 235~245. Oh and if you get square setup, you can run 5~8mm spacer in the rear to poke it more out than the front.

If you're planning to run 18's on stock suspension, make sure to clear the struts. Cuz it will be a problem on some of wheel setup. Also don't expect too much on the look either, cuz of stock height with thinner tire wall make it look weird. 5mm of tire do make a difference (believe it or not)

What taka said,

If you are still wanna go with staggered setup, I would say 7.5 front & 8.5 rear while running some harder sway bar in the rear & chassis enforcement so you don't lose the nimble feel.

9+ on the front and rear is just for looks, on autocross/track session they might benefit from it where they want as much grip as possible but that makes the care more boring for normal day to day driving.

Staggered would be strickly for looks and likely won't happen. It's just so obvious that the car was made for aftermarket staggered wheels. So many square setups here either stuff 9.5/265 up front which looks weird to me, or have nice fitment in front and then the back looks sunk. So I was just wondering if you had a slight stagger, could you correct with sways etc to keep the balance.

I'm probably 90% sure I'll be getting 18x8.5 +45 57CRs square with 235/40 18 tires for that slightly taller sidewall (and probably spacers in back). I also like being able to rotate tires since I'll likely go with long lasting all-seasons. I'm just "tossing around" other options from staggered 18s to 17x9 square, etc.

Stay stock size and enjoy a tail happy car, plus tires are cheaper and lighter. For DD you do not need more grip.

Yeah, my biggest takeaways from the video were that going between 225/255 and either square setup resulted in a few tenths differences in the lap times (regardless of which setup was from the factory). And the fact that a 235/255 or 245/255 stagger is even less of a difference than what they were testing, meant that I likely wouldn't be able to tell the difference on the street.

Too bad I can't just order 6 wheels and test them out and send back the rears I don't want.
