Edelbrock vs JRSC for track

Common sense says JRSC. Edelbrock has the best power curve. Your thoughts?

I'm more interested in a more direct comparison regarding track capabilities. Things like IAT differences, heat soak, cooling, etc.

Unless you're planning on running huge power, the differences are negligible.

Even the SCCA thinks so; they're considered equivalent for STU class racing.

The better question is, what is better for *you*? How much experience do you have, and what class(es) will you be racing in?

The best part is, both companies offer fantastic support, and are both in SoCal.

Hmm. I'm just a little conflicted, since they both seem like good options. I'm currently rethinking my budget for next year, but figured this would make a good talking point for a thread.

Right now, I see the differences as

Edelbrock:

- More low-end torque: better for DD and probably better mid range, but makes me wary about reliability
- Warranty: only up to 30k miles on the car
- Big power potential: can get up to 400+whp

JRSC:

- A little cheaper
- Potentially smoother/better CARB tune
- Smaller kit can run stock injectors on e85 (I think?), less $$$

You still haven't stated what your goals and/or classing and/or experience is.

Let's say for simplicity a budget of $10k (for mods), targeting the 86cup street class. Something that would require minimal investment & some minor suspension mods, likely running the CARB tune or a remote flash.

I'd assume for somebody going big the Edelbrock would be a no brainer, but from my end the main advantage for it I see is the low-end torque for DDing. Sounds like there's not much difference in terms of track performance OotB.

That... budget just tells me you should be modding for sustainability, not for power if you want to track your car.

FYI, my car also fits into 86CUP street class, depending on how I trim it.

Do you want power for track use, or so you can have fun on the street and go a little faster on track?

You still have not really answered my questions.

For the sake of conversation I submit two hypotheticals.

1) I am the reincarnation of Ayrton Senna and I want to go as fast as possible for as many laps as possible and I'm prepared to upgrade my radiator and add an oil cooler.

2) I have never been on a track in my life. I love how light and nimble my twin is but I'm frustrated by all the nothing that happens when I push the gas on the street so I decide to add a supercharger. Which would be least dangerous/ unreliable if I want to start going to track days in the car. Also assume I'm willing and able to add necessary supporting mods.

1. You need to be in a F1 car, not a BRZ/FRS/86.

2. Same as above; both are vetted for track use. Neither is going to fail and/or be unreliable for track use, and particularly not in the hands of a novice. You're nitpicking the two best superchargers available for that platform. It's not like you're trying to compare a Jackson to a Kraftwerks, or an Edelbrock to a Sprintex.

So, the answer to the OP, buy an F1 car. Glad we sorted that out

I recall reading JRSC having (more?) heat soak issues than edelbrock.

Not by a ton. I think up in Norcal we had one BRZ crack a header due to heat? The few Edelbrocks we've had so far havnt had any issues. Like stated earlier. These are basically cream of the crop as far as track FI goes. Cant really go wrong with either.

Anecdotally it seems like a lot of Rotrex units fail. I honestly wouldn't consider it because I'm not a fan of centrifugal superchargers they seem to generally provide the most narrow powerband.
