Is it OK to raise engine a little bit on passenger side using washers? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I had issue with header rubbing the skid plate. I raised the engine a little bit using high grade washers on passenger side to solve the problem. It's about 2-3 mm. Is there any problem with this DIY?

Probably be a better idea to clearance or space the skid plate.....and easier...

You would be better off taking the skid plate and pounding the part that's rubbing with a hammer, and/or getting stiffer engine mounts. This was a known issue with Ace headers and there is a guide to fix it.

Use a dremel and cut that small section of the skid plate off

Yes. Your DIY gave me cancer.* Why fuck up the geometry of the drive line to address an interference problem with an aftermarket part?

Tweak the skid plate, not the rest of the car.

*It's probably fine.

If I am able to install whiteline kits KTD 922, 925, and 926, would I be able to install engine mounts as well? I had to use almost all my consternation to do it but I did it

bash your header. It's an old time fix and doesn't effect power output at all.

It was an easy job while changing out the header. Leaving the header in place makes it more challenging. I used the sti mounts and think they're perfect for a street car.
