READ THIS:Changing to 0% ethanol fuel stops the chirp

Already posted this on another thread but thought it might be more helpful to everyone if it received it's own separate heading.

I too was annoyed by the chirping sound from my car. Was using 94 octane 10% ethanol as it was the only fuel rated 93 or higher available locally in Ontario (Petrocan). The unusually high temperatures we have had lately could have contributed to the issue, who knows.

Anyway, filled with Shell VPower 91 with no ethanol and haven't heard the chirp in 2 tankfuls.

So perhaps it's the ethanol, or possibly the combination of high ambient temp with using ethanol added fuel.

Others, please let me know if eliminating ethanol works.

I've noticed since the weather here in VA hasn't been so hot lately that it has not been chirping on the cooler days. Seems like really hot ambient air temps contribute to this issue.

I think this thread is a great idea. I don't think there aren't many people who would go through the other thread with an endless number of pages to find out about this info.

I, too, was able to get rid of the chirping noise by switching fuel from Chevron to Shell. Both 92 octane and 10% (I believe) ethanol. But the noise is gone only if I keep the RPM below 3000. Once I rev it to 4500, it starts chirping until I shut down the engine for a few minutes.

I'm from Ontario as well, and I made the same switch you did, with the same results. My thoughts and comments are burried somewhere in the other thread.
