Automatic Transmission Change.

(THE TITLE SHOULD BE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE, MY BAD!)
Hey pals, back at it again with another odd question.

Cars currently at 46k Miles and at 50k I plan on scheduling the first Trans and Diff fluid change.

A local company, "Ptuning" of Manassas, VA has quoted me at $100 + Fluid Cost for both my diff and transmission.

Is there any precautions you guys would recommend me taking? I'm extremely nervous to have anyone messing with my gearbox and all but I have to do it eventually. Ptuning has a good reputation with the twins.

Yes, PTuning does have a good reputation although I have not personally had work done there. That said, if they are going to do the Trans fluid change by the book (up to temp, drain and overfill 3X, final fluid level adj. blah blah blah) and not just drain the pan and replace what was drained....then yeah, have them do it. The Diff fluid change is just a bonus!

PTuning is one of the best garages in the country that you could take an 86 to IMO. My only gripe would be that I think they are a little expensive, however if you want quality you have to pay for it.

If you want a second option you can try Pure Automotive in MD. I would say they are on the same level as PTuning but I have not personally been to them.
