I just purchased used exhaust components as listed below:
Borla UEL v1 Headers Motiv Overpipe Invidia Front Pipe None of the extra hardware like gaskets, bolts, washers etc. were included. However, I did purchase a new gasket kit from Grimmspeed, http://www.grimmspeed.com/grimmspeed...st-gasket-set/. I did install the Borla Catback last year, but can I use my current bolts, washers etc. with this setup? Basically, what parts/components other than gaskets do I need to install the headers, overpipe, and frontpipe? It's my first time upgrading my exhaust completely, so I'm a big time noob when it comes to this. Thanks in advance. -Patrick |

I am not familiar with that exact setup but generally you will only need 4 bolts and nuts for the overpipe.

The factory header uses studs at the header to overpipe joint, so, unless you want to press out those studs you'll want to find replacement bolts. The factory studs are 10x1.25 mm with a 35 mm grip length. If the flange gasket on your header is greater than 10 mm then you may need bolts longer than 35 mm.

You have the GS gaskets, so [assuming you don't strip out or round off the nuts) you're good to go. Just reuse the old hardware. Toss the gasket of course. Make sure you have a torque wrench for the header nuts- 22 lb-ft, I don't know what the spec is for the other nuts on the overpipe and FP, but I used the German spec... gutentight.
Do yourself a favor, loosen that bolt (take it out actually) that bolts the FP to the undercarriage first. |

2x manifold to header gasket 2x overpipe gasket (they are the same) 4x bolts (at least 30mm in thread length) 4x nuts to match the overpipe. You can reuse your stock head to manifold nuts, assuming they are in good condition and can still lock on the thread. The length of the bolts depend on whether you are using locking washers, or single use locking nuts. The factory nuts are locking and do not require lock washers, however you can use whatever you prefer. Whatever you do, make sure you use normal locking nuts and not ones with nylon, as those will melt the moment you start the car. The catback portion doesn't matter since you are reusing stock spring bolts and donut gasket. None of the aftermarket headers/overpipe have provisions to reuse factory studs, so bolts are a must. |

Thank you for your response. If I buy bolts for the headers including the overpipe studs what size studs/nuts do i need for both and how many? Is it 7 studs @ m10x35mm, 1.50mp all around with m10, 1.50p nuts? And what size studs and nuts for the overpipe? I cant find information on Motiv's overpipe secondary hardware, and thru dont pick up their phone.
I bought everything used so i need to replace all bolts/studs for my stock exhaust from headers to frontpipe since they didnt come wjth any. I just need to know what bolts/nuts/locks/washers to buy. Im lost Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk |
