Pulled over....rant time

So pissed right now so prepare for text wall.

So about an hour ago I went to pick up Cracker Barrel to-go food after busting butt at work all day til dark. I leave the Cracker Barrel parking lot and get onto the highway and speed up to the traffic. Almost immediately I see a city police car follow behind me. Now I'm at 51/52 mph in a 45 but the pack of traffic we are in is all going this speed, they might even be going 1 mph faster if anything. I am of course staying exactly that 52, maybe 53 for a second or two and coast back to 51/52.

I get to my exit off the highway like 2 minutes down the road from Cracker barrel and the cop stays behind me. The left I'm making goes across the highway and through a Samsclub parking lot to get to my back of my neighborhood. As I'm all the way through the parking lot there all of a sudden he throws his lights and I'm thinking there's no way I was speeding so maybe something is wrong with the back of the car.

Apparently I was speeding at 60 mph(100% bullshit), peeled out of Cracker Barrel(more BS) like a "hotshit" is how he said it and also can't have a license plate cover since he was on a roll and looking for more things to be an ass about I guess. Another car went by kind of quickly as I sat there and he said "looks like everybody is driving like an idiot tonight". He gets my license, reg, and insurance. Then he notices my concealed carry permit and asks if I have a gun in the car. I say yes and he asks where it is and I say on my waist.
He asks me to get out of the car and keep my hands away from it, pulls it out and goes back to the cruiser. Then he tells me going back that I was supposed to inform him I had a gun. He sat there for a minute or two, so I started to eat my dinner and figured Officer Friendly was writing me up for everything he could think of that night.

Now keep in mind I have a bag of fresh food that would dump over so I was driving safely, knew full well he was behind me the entire time, am 40 years old now fully aware of how they can be and haven't gotten a speeding ticket since about 20 years ago. Then he finishes it up quickly with saying he has to run for a lost child and will give me the ticket in the mail. Then he informs me I need to educate myself on Florida Statute 790. I'm pretty familiar with it actually. It specifically says an individual has no “duty to inform” a law enforcement officer that they are carrying a concealed weapon or firearm but maybe he was just trying to be a bigger asshole tonight and thought he would show his ignorance even more.

So there it is. Right now I am waiting for a call back from a supervisor to give him an earful. I guess I may or may not be getting a pile of tickets in the mail from the jackass but I know one I'm definitely not paying and that's a 60 mph speeding ticket for going 52 mph that I will fight to the death over.

I can't ever think of a time where I've pulled out of a Cracker Barrel like a "hot$#!t" either... Perhaps since you actually got up to speed unlike most of the Buick drivers that were at the CB it looked more impressive than it really was?

No call back yet 12 hours later so I called them back. I didn't want to bother them since it was a Friday night and I know they have more
important things to do,like catching actual speeders and not listening to somebody complain about there incompetent officers.

Turns out the operator said I just received a warning. I made sure they can't go back on that and write me all the tickets he was coming up
with if I open my mouth and I asked for the supervisor to still call back. I'm not letting tat turkey get away with that crap. It's a few jerkwads
like him that make them all look bad. At a minimum he needs to learn the laws concerning concealed carry before he shoots somebody for
following the law correctly. How many videos online end up with a legal concealed carrier shot because they are afraid citizens can actually
LEGALLY carry too....too many.

Now we'll see if he decides to target me if I rat him out now since he knows my car...the hotshit one that speeds and peels out with cops behind him and food in the car.

Oh, what a miserable way to end the work week ......

I suggest you try not to let it mess up your weekend ...... cause, there ain't much more you can do about it.

Yep, there are some nasty LEOs out there, or ones in a nasty mood.....nothing you can do about that either.

As far as the "carry", I always give the officer my permit along with my drivers license. When one cop asked me why I was showing him that, I replied that my registration and insurance card is in my glove box ...... along with my loaded .45 ACP........and I didn't want to get shot reaching for them ......

I'm jealous you have a Cracker Barrel near where you live .......

Yeah, Cracker Barrel used to be a vacationing treat since their usually on Interstate Highways but now that it's so close, I'm almost sick of it now.
Naaah, I don't think that will happen. Last night I was getting their new cast-iron pressed maple bacon n’ jam burger...sooo good.

Still waiting for the supervisor to call back but I guess calling back an "unsatisfied customer" isn't on the top of his to-do list.
At a minimum he will hopefully properly educate his subordinates on what the laws are in Florida concerning informing an officer if they didn't ask for your permit.
I did get nasty back since he started it and told him I didn't have to inform him unless he asked as he was getting back into his car and he said his nonsense about
me learning the statutes. I didn't put it in the original post but I did yell out "a-hole" really loud and he yelled something back as I drove away. I thought for
sure that was the nail in the coffin for the tickets but I guess maybe somebody informed officer jerkface on the correct interpretation of the laws or maybe he just smartened up and left it
as a waning like the operator told me since the stop was bogus to begin with. I've never raised my voice or talked back to the police and probably won't ever again but that guy really had it coming.

Also notable in this fun filled night was an absence of my radar detector going off at all. I ALWAYS know if a radar is coming or going at least a mile out and especially at night
when they have to use KA or XA and no laser. Not that I would tell the supervisor that but that is also even more evidence that he made the whole thing up. My next step is to get a camera
that also records speed so if one of these situations happen again, they will be caught lying and go down harder next time. This guy really put a bad taste in my mouth for law enforcement.
I know he's just one bad one of many good ones but those few bad apples ruin their reputation for all the mostly good ones out there.

I've heard and read lots of bad things about the cops in Pasco Co. I'm in hillsborough but I'm always up in Pasco and reading this sort of thing makes me nervous about driving around up there with the Keystone Cops running around pulling people over for being a "hotshit" and for loud exhausts too.

As far as a lot of bad things, I don't know about that. If you don't attract too much attention, they seem to leave you alone. I actually appreciate what they do and have called upon their assistance many times and it mostly was positive experiences. I've never had a too loud exhaust though so I haven't run into that issue. I'm sure some cops are just jealous when they see younger people with nicer vehicles than they had when they were younger, are bored or maybe they are just PMSing? I am not young, was not speeding, not attracting attention actively(speeding/hooning) nor passively(loud music/bright paint/lot's of exterior mods, have a light out or anything that would normally warrant to be harass me so I guess, for this asshat last night, it was his boredom or PMS.

West Pasco County Police cheat sheet:

Entering Pasco from Pinellas on 19 - Nothing really all the way through Holiday until NPR where Pasco sheriffs randomly watch.

New Port Richey mostly all clear all of 19 - my stop was very rare. I watch bikes doing 100+ mph walking the dogs along 19 almost every night.

Crossing into Port Richey from New Port Richey on 19 - PR police sit there waiting for an easy speeding ticket.

Leaving PR and into Hudson - No mans land, police doen't seem to exist on 19. You could probably top the car out and do that from Hudson to County line Rd. Every so often there will be a FHP sitting around on the side but rarely.

All East of US19 they don't really bother anybody, maybe a little more presence on Seven Springs Blvd at busier times since it's a main artery in and out of Pasco.

Main roads off 19 to the east 52 has a few running up and down but they don't sit around waiting for speeders. Ridge road is pretty quiet up til where it crosses Little. That is right down the street from their hive so they are around there a lot. 54 East up to Little rd is very little presence although they randomly do sit about halfway down in the middle of the median. After Little going East they are heavy with Pasco sheriff and FHP.

I've lived around here long enough to know where I can go above and be safe. Safe enough that you can be riding along 10-15 mph over with them along side you and they just leave you alone. Last night I didn't trust officer jerkface which is why I stayed at 52 mph in that 45. As far as bothering you for loud exhausts, like I said above, I've never heard of that around here. They stopped bothering us for tinted windows a long time ago and I actually surprised about him even mentioning about the license plate cover. I think being "hotshit" and "driving like an idiot" was just his excuse for pulling me over harassing and looking for an easy ticket/s.

Supervisor just called and asked what happened. Gave him my side and I'm sure doofus had a totally different story.
He was cool and it all seems to be swept under the rug. The doofus did learn about the statutes after the Corporal
said he talked to him concerning concealed carry laws so there's that.
