Need some exhaust direction guys

Hey guys I've had three other Subaru's but they've all been WRX's and getting an exhaust was pretty straightforward however with this car it seems to have a crap ton of exhaust possibilities for it and you combine that with equal or unequal length headers and even makes it more daunting.

I've listened to different exhaust clips but without knowing all the exhaust combos it's got it is sometimes hard to tell what it actually sounds like in the car, so I'm hoping I'm going to tell you what I want and those who have modified their cars and heard these different exhaust can chime in and let me know which direction I should explore.

I think ultimately I will buy an unequal length headers for that boxer sound but for now I'm just looking to get an exhaust that is either a cat back or axle back. I'm not really out for all out power but I do want a sound that is more throaty and does not drone at all and in really only shows itself when I get on it.

I do want to keep the system catted and other than that not too heavy.

I'm hoping for several suggestions that I can start getting online researching their sound. My budget needs to be around $1000 plus or minus in that range. Thanks.

Look at Perrin 2.5" resonated.

I have a Injen 3" exhaust and it sounds great but drones.

I am taking a cheap ebay cat back exhaust off my car if you want it for $50. I have a buddy that's coming into town next weekend and he will be heading back to his house in Louisiana. It would give you an idea how loud these cars are bhahahaaha.

Thanks, but alas, no thanks . . . I'm assuming your ditching it for the same reason you bought it!

JDL UEL catted header combined with the Perrin 2.5" resonated has been working like a charm for me. The combo is out of your price range, but you don't have to buy both bits at the same time. It provides a nice deep tone at <4k rpm. After that it starts to really get loud! And there is little to no drone! I would have no problem taking the car on a long road trip.

I can second this. I also have the Perrin overpipe and Perrin catted front pipe and I still don't have drone.

I'm looking to doing the same JDL UEL Catted & OFT once my new car warranty expires later this year.

I installed 2.5" Perrin resonated a few weeks ago, sounds great. First fire up, I was a little concerned though. It was a little louder at cold start idle than I expected but that is at its loudest (I think). When you drive, it mellows down and sounds really good... not too loud and no drone. It will obviously be louder with headers but you can install a JDL ultra quiet front over pipe, which is what I would do if I ever decide to install headers. I like a nice, smooth controlled rumble - not to noisy or obnoxious.

How come no one is suggesting Corsa? I listened to lots of sound clips and it sounds great. Thinking I'll go with that one. Any reason why I don't see it being suggested ever? You guys know something?

If you really wanna hear different catback exhausts join up with your local FT86 club. Members will have different catbacks, etc and you'll be able to hear them which is better than video clips. I'm sure others will comment about Corsa.

Can confirm, I have the Perrin 2.5" catback. Sounds great when you really get on it, but nice and civil at all other times. Slightly louder than stock at highway cruise speeds, nice low note for city driving.

Exhausts that dont show until you get on it are great because most are pretty cheap.

Invidia Q300
Yonaka CBE
Perrin 2.5"
Nameless Axelback 2.5" with 5" muffler
Invidia R400 "Gemini"

These all spring to mind with the combo you want. I've also listed them quiestest to loudest top to bottom. Although the top 3 are all pretty similar in volume. All of these offer zero drone and good throaty tone.

I have the 3" with 5" Nameless on mine but it doesnt have UEL headers
