Question Blinking carat "arrow" in Dashboard Gear Display

What is that fast blinking carat looks like an up arrow that appears on the gear indicator screen in the tach?

It happens quickly any body else see it?

Isn't that blinker that you can shift up?

It lets you know when you should shift for best fuel economy.

It also turns off if you turn off the in-gear display.

Yea it's turned on when the gear indicator is turned on. So if you turn it off, the carrot letting you know when to shift, and the gear indicator will also turn off. I personally like it.

AT?

That would be <2k rpm on a first gen MT, let alone the shorter rear end on the '17 MT.

I'll cruise at 35 mph in 5th gear once up to temp, just a hair over 2k rpm, couldn't imagine putting it in 6th, sure it's possible, just doesn't feel right.

Flat level ground, 6th at a tad over 35MPH is fine. ANY hill and it's going to bog.

It adapts to driving conditions/style somewhat.

Did it this morning, I remembered wrongly about how the car cruised at 1.5k-2k, I think I might be enjoying a bump in fuel economy on my next tank as I was keeping the revs over 2k all the time.
