It lets you know when you should shift for best fuel economy.
It also turns off if you turn off the in-gear display. |
Yea it's turned on when the gear indicator is turned on. So if you turn it off, the carrot letting you know when to shift, and the gear indicator will also turn off. I personally like it.

you can turn it on or off using the instrument panel display
go to settings -> GSI and then on or off |
I've been trying my best to abide by the carrot... Dang thing says I should be in 6th at 35mph!

That would be <2k rpm on a first gen MT, let alone the shorter rear end on the '17 MT. I'll cruise at 35 mph in 5th gear once up to temp, just a hair over 2k rpm, couldn't imagine putting it in 6th, sure it's possible, just doesn't feel right. |
Flat level ground, 6th at a tad over 35MPH is fine. ANY hill and it's going to bog.

It adapts to driving conditions/style somewhat.

I tried to resist but every single time I read that title I cringe a little
