Red stitching unraveling

Anyone have this issue with their cars? I noticed mine this afternoon. The red stitching on steering wheel starting to unravel. Any fixes? Will the leather eventually peel away from the steering wheel due to this? Thanks

Same here. my stitching is coming undone where I normally hold the wheel. Leather isn't peeling away, but I used a razor blade to cut the ends off.

If you're still under 3/36k the dealer will replace it.

Yup, I agree.

OP, I would try using some super glue to try and stop the unraveling and then trip the wispy parts off.

I doubt that you can completely stop it but you might slow it down. I imagine a new wheel will be in your future. With all of the wrecks out there you should be able to pick up a wheel missing the airbag pretty cheap.

There are re-wrap kits and rewrap services out there. Looks decently expensive though. $130 for just the wrap and thread from here http://www.redlinegoods.com/BRZshiftboot.php . More than double that for installation and shipping. I'm guessing you could pick up a nice wheel second hand for cheaper.

I think spending money in replacing things such as new steering wheels are a complete waste - I could be modding something else instead. If I can do that by not causing it damage, why not?

At least it doesn't look like something destoyed that someone half-assed glued together, lol

Check out ebay...

Lots of steering wheels from totals - no airbag but most include housing and cruise control stalk...

Different models for auto vs manual (shift paddles), but good as new assemblies go for $60-$70

Superglue for fabric. It's out there look for it.
You could try plain old superglue but I'm pretty sure it might stain it. Then again the only one that will notice/give a shit is you. Your call.
