New exhaust, couple questions.

Just installed an Invidia catless front pipe and an FT86speedfactory catback system. This video shows how this system should sound.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwxqyn4IBj8"]Scion FRS and Subaru BRZ FT-86 SpeedFactory V1 Exhaust - YouTube[/ame]

However, after install the system is much more raspy and WAY less of that throaty subaru sound that I expected from teh video.

Will the exhaust settle out after time and sound more like the video that's linked?

1) new exhausts do change over time
2) most videos greatly distort the sound of an exhaust just due to their nature

Many videos sound deeper and less raspy then in person. A catless front pipe is probably not helping much especially with that catback imo.

Thanks!

I like the sound, its loud and sounds good, but it's a little less "subaru boxer sound" than I expected.

This post is a lie, the more I drive it, the more I hate it. Sounds like a 50$ fart can on a Honda. Not a high end, professional system.

Do you have a UEL header?

Stock header is equal length. You will need a UEL header to get the "Subaru" sound

Frustrating because the sound in the video was much more of that typical boxer motor sound compared to how it sounds live

Feels like I got slightly mislead by the video. Maybe that's unfair to say.

So, would a borla UEL header take away the "ricer Honda" sound of the exhaust and give it more of a boxer sound? Or will it just make it a louder "ricer Honda" sound.

Well, now, Tysoncrosby21, that's a shame you aren't happy with your exhaust system.

Like said above, I understand it takes a UEL header to make the boxer rumble sound.

I suspect if you put any UEL header on your car ...... other than gaining the rumble, the rest of the exhaust note will remain the same ...... just louder.

Swap the front pipe with a JDL ultra queit or hks dual resonated. My q300 catback sounded like a Honda too. Total crap. Perrin or Miltek resonated catback help a lot. Of if you plan to stay stock header the Tanabe single exit sounds great, just dont get headers with it or it sounds Honda like too. Couldnt handle the extra flow.

@humfrz is right about adding a uel. Will give a bit of rumble down low but still sound like ass and even louder on throttle

Now it's working....lol. I emailed FT86 about that exhast and the video was the catless front pipe and the V1 catback. It's just VERY VERY poorly represented in the video.

My honest plan right now is to pull the front pipe and catback and probably sell them or talk to the vendor about a refund/exchange.

Then getting a borla UEL, HKS dual resonated front pipe and the Invidia N1 resonated catback. Probably won't burn me a ton on out of pocket cost, and it puts a decent system together.

Thoughts?

Bro you will not get the rumble with just a catless frontpipe.. You could get aftermarket frontpipe, overpipe, and catback all the way back... If you still have the Stock header, you will just hear your catback mainly

I realize that now after the replies on this post! But thanks for your contribution to the topic. Haha

Video the seller used was misleading. Time for headers.

Got a clip of the setup, compare that one to what the seller posted.
