Possibly a silly question regarding mixing exhaust components.

Hi.
I have a '12 86 GTS.
I have just bought a couple bits to fit ob:
- JDL catless UEL headers (ceramic coated / chrome finish)
- Amuse R1 Titan catback
I was planning on waiting until I got a front pipe and whatever the other one is called before fitting and tuning, however with Christmas I don't have much spare cash and I am impatient.

The question is that the JDL ID is 2.5", then I would have the stock pieces, and then I would have the Amuse which is 2.75"...would this cause any issues other than not giving me the full power I would expect?

I plan on temporarily just running o2 spacers until everything is done and getting a professional dyno tune at that time.

most of the power gain will be with the header and a tune,

removing the cat in the front pipe, you will see 3-4 hp gain

You really should tune the moment your header gets installed in order for the car to run properly and avoid throwing codes. Do you plan on using an EcuTek Pro ECU programming and datalogging kit? If so, I'd recommend remote tuning with Delicious Tuning (my preference) and then getting an update as you add new components - it's quick and easy, and is a far better solution than running your car with the header, but without a tune.

Unfortnatly catbacks give you almost zero power gain, just sound.

have a read of the Basic Bolt on Mods link below in signiture

Re tuning eutek and deliceous are good but will cost you substiantial dollars in australia

500 cable kit 500 licience and 500 tune our money.

not sure what the local tuners charge.

heres a rundown on tune systems

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106068

if you use a spacer you only need one in the rear 02 sensor, if you put one on the front sensor it will cause you grief

once you install catless header you can get tune as the rest of exhaist has almost no effect on tune

Thanks for the reply to everyone sofar.
I have read through that several times haha.
I am not terribly worried about throwing the cel code temporarily as from my research they wrong affect anything negatively and won't send me in to limp mode.

As for the lack of gains in the meantime without a tune, I'm in no hurry to power up, my goal is weight loss, sound, and got great deals.
I know I probably should hold out until I have all parts but I'm impatient.

I was more worried about concerns regarding going from 2.5>2.25 (stock I assume?)>2.75.

I was going to go for oft for tuning but I am not experienced in tunes so that's why I figured I'll get it dyno tuned when it's complete...

if you are worried about the fitment of the header, the JDL UEL will fit perfectly with the stock oem over pipe.

I am running the same header as you are.

PS: im pretty sure most after market exhaust pieces are designed to fit with oem parts.

I would take a look at the guys at MRT - https://www.mrtperformance.com.au/

They are an AU company who does nothing but FA20's and the Subi line of motors. I have been watching their youtube video and the guys have and create some amazing info. https://www.youtube.com/user/Brettmiddleton

Sine I know nothing about the distance from your location to them, this might be a better vendor for you then a US company.

Address:

1 Averill Street
(corner of Concord Road)
Rhodes
NSW 2138 Australia

PS. I hear they don't like sheep either.

The mrt guys want about $1700 for a licience/tune and that's no cable.

ecutek tunes are ridiculously expensive in Australia

In NSW at least any inspection is just making sure brakes, tyres and lights work, and the car doesn't look like it's going to fall apart...

Unless a cop has a reason to defect you, you don't need to put it through the pits for a full inspection so it's not likely to be found...

Some states don't even have inspections yearly at all...

The downside to Australia is that so much is illegal, but generally if it's not obviously endangering the public and you aren't a total **** to the cop, the don't usually hassle you.
My brakes aren't road legal, my wheels are too big for certain states, some states don't even like that I have adjustable suspension...but in respectful when I get pulled over and I have not yet been pinged.
