Ignition Coils - Misfiring Help

Does anyone know how to swap out the ignition coils, I live in Ktown... I have a bad feeling Toyotas gonna quote me for a lot of money to replace these... especially after reading all the hardships us 86 owners face in terms of replacing these every couple months. I can't imagine replacing them constantly >.>

How many miles on your car .. ??

Do you track it a lot .. ??

Why do you suspect a bad coil pack(s) .. ??

Is you car still under warranty .. ??

Any major power mods .. ??

If it is a bad coil, maybe it's just one ..... ??

From what I understand, if one has to replace coil packs every couple of months ..... someone is doing some real hard track time ......??

Pretty much what humfrs said.
Are you sure it's the coil pack(s)? Is that what the engine code says?

From what I read, and seen one local person had it. It was not much of a hassle to replace. And it was just a one time fix. Unless you have some shitty mod/tune.
Price wise, yeah it's in the triple digits.

54k exactly (going up)

Don't track

Bad coil pack because my mechanic read CEL codes and told me my ignition coils are bad and my engines experiencing misfire, as well as myself when I drive (vibration/shaking)

No :C but I bought this car used, purchased 24 months/ 24k mile insurance from Century (Stage 4, apparently covers everything. Question regarding this is... if I noticed other problems that aren't full blown "problems" yet and are just wearing out would I be able to request maintenence on those parts also?
reason why I'm asking community instead of service agent is that they'll probably say no to save money.)

No major power mods. NA engine

Well, I reckon the only way to find out whether or not your extended warranty will cover "preventative maintenance" items, is to ask them .....

As far as all of the coil packs going bad at the same time, that is highly unlikely. Just one acting up will cause a misfire.

Sort of like in the old days ....... having all of the spark plugs fouling up at the same time......unlikely.

Reminds me of back-in-the-day I was riding in the back seat of my cousins 1950 Ford, going waaay too fast around curves in the West Virginia countryside (you know, the kind where you can reach around and touch the back of the car .....).

When his girl friend, which I suspect she was our cousin also, yelled back to me "its ah messen" (in a very heavy West Virginia speak).

What she was trying to say is that his cars ignition was missing.

Since Lou was driving like he was on Thunder Road, and his one hand was half way up his girl's leg, I figured I was going to die in West Virginia, at the ripe age of 16.

I hope you get your car's engine sorted out......

Do you know what the CEL was? A far more common cause of misfire is the cam position. If it seems that all the coil packs are bad this is far more likely then pack failure. Show the attached TSB to your guy.

Be very careful driving it. One wrong misfire and you could end up with a really good look at a rod.

Yeah, I need my vehicle for daily living. What is the best precautionary method to using my car at this point. The best being not driving it at all. What is the 2nd best thing to do.

Missing on an opposed 4 is really rough on the main bearings. Recommend doing whatever it takes to avoid driving it.

My dad busted a crankshaft once because of a fouled plug.

Soooo I just payed $125 "diagnostic fee" to the dealership for them to tell me there's absolutely nothing wrong. I'm about to pick up my car in 10 minutes... Is there anything I can to do hold their word for it so if something really does happen due to negligence I can be sure to place blame somewhere? Not to be rude or anything.
