At 5,000kms and fuel injectors 2 & 4 are misfiring!!!

White GTS AT - This is the second time Ive had to take the car in...

The first was a month after I got it the warning lights came on after heavy rain and stayed on (traction control off) - no issues were found.

Now, just before I crack 5,000kms, was sitting at the lights after 20mins of driving and the car starts shaking violently. Drove off and it was fine, until we went to park - shakes again. No warning lights yet. Went shopping (it was Sunday, so no service centre opened), came back and started car... all seemed ok. Three sets of lights later, car starts to shake its ass like it was dancing to ice cube, warning lights came on. Got home and started the car three times over 4 or so hours. Warning lights stayed on. FML. Brought it to a Toyota service centre and after an hour of waiting (no app) they said fuel injectors 2 & 4 are misfiring. They didnt know why but the issue wasnt going to be resolved today... Just left the service centre to go to work. They're going to update me...

This better be under warrenty, considering Ive done nothing to modify the car, never raced it and only put the best fuel in. FML so angry.

sorry to hear....

should be covered under warranty.
I would be more worried as to whether they can fix it or not.

If you can replicate the issue, I would recommend recording it, so you can show them.

when you cold start the car, do you wait for 30secs for revs to drop before switching gears?

I accidentally forgot about this before as i was coming out of a shopping center one day and people were waiting for me to leave and i kinda rushed without waiting for the engine to drop it's revs before taking off and the car was shaking it's ass like Shakria's Hips don't lie.

*Update*

Apparently I need my VTi controller solenoid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VVT-i) replaced. So something dodgewa happened there, but not sure what.

I was also told that they placed an order this morning for the last one in Australia (happens to be in Sydney). It should be arriving there this afternoon, and if it does I should be able to pick the car up tomorrow afternoon.

However, if for some reason another service centre ordered it at the same time and they couldnt get this one, they'll have to get one in from Japan or somewhere else which can take 2 - 3 weeks. My car is not drivable in the interim (and I just sold my second car two weekends ago! damn you Murphys law).

All under warranty... and they said its a fault in the car, that I wouldnt have seen if I went looking (cos I asked what should I have looked for). Estimated that this dodgy part is less than a week of dodgyness before it konked out yesterday. Hopefully this hasnt damaged anything else in the car in the process of me getting to the dealership. Time will tell...

Maybe you need a VVTi thingy too?... I'd get it checked out if your baby shook the way mine did... It was only in idle that it went crackers... but seeing as theres a part fault for 2 injectors not to work... might just be my luck.

Really sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm at the same km's (give or take) so keeping my fingers crossed. Only thing bothering me so far is a small rattle in the glovebox region.

Sorry to hear about the shakes.
I am hoping that these first year bugs will be ironed out before next years production.
This is a classic bathtub curve on the graph of new production faults vs time.
My brz is due for delivery nov 2013.

I'm with you on that one, my BRZ is due August 2013. Other people's faults mean hopefully mine is all ironed out by the time I get it.

But it's good to know about them, so thanks for sharing and hopefully that's your only trouble.

This issue along with many if not all the others is electronic controlled & related. The sensors &/or computer are to blame.

Also Subaru do not have VTEC ! Honda designed the real VTEC system years ago which does more than just control valve timing which all manufacturers have today usually called VVT or the like. The real VTEC can also switch between two cam lobe profiles @ a given/programmed rev speed allowing a small engine to produce high power @ high revs. The only other manufacturer that I know of to use a similar system is Toyota, they designed theirs around the VTEC system & called it VVTLI. If the 86 engine had VTEC is would scream to around 9,000rpm & it would do it very quickly !
