GRD intake kit.
Morning gents.
I've been doing some measuring up for an intake kit that I'm thinking of releasing to the guys on this forum for basically material costs + postage. I'm still deciding what to make it out of but so far I'm thinking of polished 316L stainless. It will have the same ID as the stock intake due to the air flow sensor, It will have a high flow k&n pod with a heat shield and t-bolt clamps, the air flow sensor will be bolted onto a cnc'd plate welded to the stainless on the same location as stock. A few things I'm unsure of would be if I should keep the cabin noise maker or not and also weather or not to make it possible to use stock airbox. At this stage the kit looks like it would be around the $265 mark plus postage but I think if I can get a bit of interest it would affect pricing significantly. Let me know what you think, il try release some pics once I've finished the first one and il add a dyno comparison. Kal. Ps. Turbo has been dummy fitted in its final position

In all seriousness. This is exciting.
Are you going boost already? How are you mounting it? Also, have option for the cabin pipe with some kind of flange etc to block in future. Im assuming removing this will throw a CEL anyway. |

Yes boost will be greeting the intake manifold soon
. I'm not rushing it to bring it out before anyone else, I'm taking my time and doing it right the first time, especially because the material for the exhaust manifold ain't cheap enough to mess up, the turbo is mounted where the airbox used to be to aid oil drainage, I'm using cnc engine flanges 304L stainless and then 1.5" sch10 304L stainless steam pipe that collects behind the radiator and enters the turbo via v-band stainless exhaust housing from Tial. 50mm turbo smart external gate vents directly down to atmosphere and dump pipe follows standard header location into the rest of the exhaust (3"). I've been using a new gtx3071r to get fitments but will most likely downsize to a gtx2863r or thereabouts. I've just seen one of those turbos flow 496rwhp on an sr20. Not bad...

It sits much lower and closer to the centre of the car. This pic was taken a few days ago when we were still messing around with positions.
