drl stopped working! help.

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and recently I made a huge mistake on my brz and all I want is everything to be back to normal! so as you all know its pretty easy to fry the biu when it comes to led bulbs. My first issue was the door courtesy lights would always stay on as the ground connection in the biu got fried and I managed to get my hands on a new one and got it installed by my friend at subaru.

So the courtesy light was fixed after swapping the new biu over, now the problem i have is the drl led bar above the fogs arent turning on as i release the e-brake. Had anybody have this problem before? If so, how did you fix it or what else was needed to replace.

Step one is obviously to check the fuses. If you have or they are OK then go to step two.

Step two the old IT fix. Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes and then hook it back up. If they still don't work then you have some digging to do.

FWIW, I have converted everything to LEDs and haven't fried anything yet. Is it cheap LED bulbs that do this?

yah ive checked all the fuses thats related to the drl wiring diagram that i was able to get. Guess its time to pull out the test light, but just wanted to see if anyone here had a problem like this before on their brz.

Did you try disconnecting the battery yet? Sometime they don't seem to take on the first try and just need a power down reset.

Cheap or installed wrong. The slightest error can start blowing all sorts of things. There is a long history of issues on here.

Ahh. Yeah I do kinda-sorta recall reading about that. Biggest issue I've had is installing LED bulbs backwards causing them to not light up. Murphy's Law always ensures I install EVERY SINGLE ONE of them backwards the first time. Like when you try to plug in a USB cable.

But, you do get free "smoked" lenses.

You're lucky. I had to buy a replacement relay to defeat my drls. That was the first mod i made on my FR-S.
