Upgrading the speakers on a system with OEM Audio Plus installed
I have the OEM Audio Plus for BRZ installed currently, which includes:
-1" Soft Dome tweeter -8" 100W Subwoofer -120W Subwoofer Amplifier -Multi-Channel 32-Bit DSP Power Amplifier (360 Watts RMS Continuous / @ 2-ohms) I feel like I can get a lot of improvement by replacing the stock speakers, including the tweeter that was replaced by OEM Audio+. However, I have almost no experience in car audio, and am wondering if anybody could give me suggestions on upgrading the tweeter, midrange, door, and rear speakers of the car. My budget for this would be around $1000-1500. Thank you in any advance for any help.

The OEM+ comes with 4" mid range, and 6.5" woofers now.
You could just pick those up as extra ones? |

prob the most straight forward solution would be contacting them about upgrading your existing setup. at least that way you know all your parts will compliment eachother. I think they do DSP retunes when you upgrade, you might be out of your dsp for a little bit, but Im not sure.
Edit: Or you could sell your existing solution and go for a custom setup if that's your interest.

I just ordered the entire speaker replacement with the amp.
I'm usually a balanced audio type of guy--but I went with robust just to see what it'll do. I hope I don't regret it with too much bass. But I mean, it's only 100rms. lols. |

Honestly that's one reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the OEM Audio+ setup. Right now I have an 8" with 200w RMS, and it's right about where I want it, although I'm contemplating stepping to a 10" for lower extension. I worry that stepping down to 100w RMS might leave me wanting more bass.

+1 for contacting OEM Audio + about upgrading speakers.
I started off with just the basic "system" and upgraded after I heard the reference system in my wife's car. It's worth it. As for bass, it's strong enough to make the music (bass included) the only thing you hear at highway speed. (And I am running a Borla cat-back) |

Definitely suggest contacting their customer service. They're excellent.
I have the reference system in my car, OEM A+ is super responsive, have upgraded speakers, and can re-tune the DSP for your car as well. They can also re-tune for new head units as long as it's nothing too crazy. I plan on upgrading my head unit soon and the having them kick up the bass a notch since I went for the mid-level and I have to turn the volume over 25-30 it seems for the sub to start kicking. |
