Front tray/splash shield pushing down due to intercooler?

I have a FBM turbo kit and it seems that the intercooler is pushing down on the black front tray/shield and causing my front bumper with Seibon lip to sag (gaps near the side markers)...anyone else have this issue?

Has anyone removed that tray/shield and whats the purpose of it?

Many many many people have the sag issue. The tray is essential for aero. It wasn't designed to support anything. That's part of the problem.

The other part of the problem is in the design of the bumper cover itself. The unit really needs to be supported from the bottom where your lip is installed. An actual splitter supported by the bumper beam would be perfect.

I had to take mine off and cut the tray under it. The easiest way to mark where you need to cut is to just take your bumper off and use tape and go around the radiator where is touching the intercooler. Then take the shield off and cut it. I had to remove about 2 millimeters worth of material going down. I wasn't happy about it at all.

It seems to just be a support for the bumper, which I can zip tie and my carbon lip provides extra support.

It doesn't look like an aero/airflow piece, so are you sure?
