if you want noise, either buy a catback or headers. they will give you the most noise.

If you go with catless, it'll be definitely louder, but nothing compared to a catback. Not exactly. |

Exhaust piping upgrades should give you "some noise." In my opinion catback and headers should be upgraded first if you want a noticeable sound difference. There are quieter catback exhausts on the market so you don't have to be a cop magnet.

I have the Tomei unresonated uncatted Front Pipe, got it for weight reduction, 3lbs compared to stock 14lbs. I have stock catback and headers, It's like stock exhaust but louder and more noticeable of it's presence, it gurgles nicely from a stop in 1st gear, downshifts are good. If you listen closely sometimes in idle and rev, you might be able to hear some small crackles. It's fine if you want more noise and want to look stock. I'm going to be getting a Tomei 60R catback in addition to the front pipe. It's going to be pretty damn loud.
tl;dr uncatted front pipes by themselves don't do much. Paired with aftermarket headers or catback, really amplifies everything.
