URGENT!!! CAR WONT TURN OVER!

Recently updated my tablet and attempted to reflash. 5% of the way through the tablet tell me that an error occured while writing to the ECU. After a couple tries i gave up, disconnected the tablet and attempted to turn on my car. Now my car is stuck in some kind of security mode or something and wont even turn over when i try to start it up.

I have contemplated taking it to the dealer for service but i currently have E85 in my gas tank and a stage 2 tune. I am afraid that my warranties will get voided because they will most likely find out that ive been re-flashing my ECU and running Ethanol.

I wish this was as simple as connecting the tablet and re-flashing back to my original file but i keep getting the "an error occuried while writing to the ECU" Message.

Any ideas on how i can fix this? It seems like the car is stuck in programming mode or flashing mode?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

FYI ive tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour. Also the horn and all other electronics in the car seem to be working fine.

Ecutek has a method for recovering bricked ECU's. There also some examples of ECU's unbricked with other tuning solutions. You can also replace it, which is a bit of a chore, see here, http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102810
Bottom line. If the ignition is turned off during a flash, the ECU is bricked. You might have been able to reload your tablet and reflash it if you had left your ignition on, but now it is bricked.

Ok it sounds like you have a partial flash so ecu wont run and car wont start.

Most flash systems have a recovery mode which attempts to use the "boot" area thats not flashed during tune updates.

did you make any edits in romraider to the tune you tried to flash ?

1. Make sure your battery is good, all flash system will fail if car battery is low or weak. (put a charger in it for a couple of hours anyway, remove the charger when your going to flash) I know the OFT will fail on low battery volts, guy last month reckoned his battery was fine when he finally replaced/charged it oft worked fine.

2. Make sure the cable is plugged into oft and the car obd port securely.

3. make sure ignition is full ON not just accessory when flashing ,but do not try to start car.

See if you can test your oft on another brz/86 by doing some logging or use the diagnostics. this will check oft and cable (dont try to flash the other car )

4. Their has been a couple of failed cables on oft, contact the oft guys they may send you a replacement cable

3. turn off all other electrical stuff in your car.

4. Try to reflash the "STOCK" tune in the slot called "Original" in the OFT

I've had this happen, there is an auto recover...

1) disconnect the battery

2) depress the brake pedal for several seconds to drain any residual energy.

3) reconnect the battery.

4) reflash.

I'm pretty sure that's what I ended up doing after I initially panicked and thought it was bricked and it worked.

The problem is, it won't reflash. Maybe the brake pedal just needs to be held down while the battery is disconnected. Then charge the battery, securely connect the OFT cable, and reflash with original tune.
