Old news and still speculation and hearsay, not worth anything till the next gen rolls around in 2020 or whatever.

I don't understand the point of that article. The headline should have read:

Australian website spoke with Tetsuya Tada and he told them absolutely nothing

Don't even bother clicking. I just provided every relevant detail from that article in a single sentence.

Are they going to put a "Real" engine in it?

The only really great thing that I can say about the engine in the twins is that when removed, it leaves a great place to put a V8!

The Toyota V8 would be a great choice for this chassis. If I have to suffer the complexity of two heads and four cams, might as well have a V8!

That all said, I do realize that if the factory power level were ever increased significantly, the cost to buy, insure and maintain would take it out of the demographics of the current buyers.

I'll be over in the corner putting my suit on...

I'm surprised no one here has mention about hopefully having an option of a bigger fuel tank even by a 1 to 2 gallons would be nice.

And here is the fun part where we get to watch these stupid clickbaits bend, twist, misquote and totally mangle the "facts" in progress.

The original Motor article (attached) attributes all of Tada's comments to the facelifted 17 model. Now this article takes those comments and applies them to the next gen model. Sure Tada may have said something along those lines but the first interview quotes are dubious and now this one is just way out in left field someplace.
And people still believe this shit!

Not sure you can add all that tech (hybrid) and lower the weight. Curious about lowering the weight. I mean the car already feels like a tin can. Where are they going to lower the weight? If they did turbo the car .... say goodbye to the 2 liter. Dropping weight means a smaller FI motor.

He's only saying things to keep people speculating. Keep us entertained and on board.

I still think a turbo diesel engine would be just right.

Granted this all appears to be speculation, but great news if the next generation is even lighter. I hate buying the same car twice (or even a successive generation), but a ~300 lbs. lighter FR-S would be very tempting.

There is a 0% chance of that happening, since the FR-S has been discontinued.
