Adjusting The Swing Length of the Door

Is it possible to adjust the two-part door hinge mechanism?

You know how you can open your door a little bit and it locks, and then you can swing it out even more and then it locks again?

My issue is that at the first stop it's difficult for me to climb out without bending my legs in a weird way, and when I try to open it to the 2nd position in almost all the cases so far there was just not enough room (either a garage wall or a car parked next to me)

My only solution has been to park closer to the passenger side parking line and leaving myself space on the driver's side, but that just opens up my passenger side to possible damage from the world's dumbasses.

Is there a way to adjust that mechanism?

it almost seems like worthwhile to invest into lambo doors! (no joke)

As far as I can see door checks are not adjustable. I would assume the only way to do what you want is to buy some kind of custom door check or maybe you could grind another spot in between, where your door will stop on if it really bothers you.

Sorry to rehash an old thread, but I totally agree with 7thgear. This is seriously the only thing that drives me nuts about my brz. I have to hold the damn door to a width inbetween the two factory door checks everytime I enter/exit the car.

Thinking I should just put a clear plastic bumper on the edge of my door and just let it rest on the car next to me when I open it.
