Weird top mount setup

Came across these pictures of a guy in Japan selling this DIY turbo kit for our cars. Looks like he did all the work himself. It utilizes a Pulsar GTiR turbo and small top mount. Just interested to know your thoughts about this weird setup. Apparently he claims 200 horsepower at the wheels. It has a custom welded header and down-pipe that utilizes the stock cat. He made a bunch of heat shields himself and it even has an awkward fiberglass vent that runs along the underside of the hood to feed air to the top mount. Kinda sleeper, very quirky.

Oh, by the way the list price was $280 for everything

It maybe sleeper but with 200 whp are you really going to wake any one up? Not sure how the MAF is going to really know whats going on.

PTuning's will do 207 on 93 octane. Pretty snazzy. Also kind of pricy. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...39#post2518339

the thing with most of these NA tunes is that the max HP numbers are mostly on cold days. the hotter it gets, the less power you will be making. it's not really an "every day" HP number you're getting and more of a "best case scenario"

though, living in an area where it gets over 100F easily (and 120F+ in the middle of summer) doesn't really help lol. not to mention that we only get 91 here... I am so jealous of everyone else who can get 93

Anyone notice the MAF placement? There is no way that works properly.

This is right an no one considers the area under the curve just that peak number at 7k rpm. I bet this things feels faster and probably is more street-able than an NA e85 setup. I had that. Now I'm on an ESC. Yeah peak numbers are not impressive around 225whp but a tremendous amount of midrange torque. Its V6 like. I make 200 whp now at 5.5k rpm instead of 7k. Boost drops and its pretty flat from there.

Wow, that's actually the stock intercooler that came with the GTiR. Plus, the header appears to be the stock header, just modified to have an uppipe.

This is so janky, it's awesome.
