Which part of the cooling system is this from?

I've been having overheating issues and I keep thinking it's a head gasket issue. But last time I had a bad head gasket, the oil temp shot up with the coolant temps. That isn't happening this time. I replaced the thermostat and the gasket was intact and also didn't fix the issue. I have no idea what this piece is from. It's the 3rd piece I've found while filling up my coolant tank. All the rubber is intact with the radiator cap so maybe it's the water pump? I have over 90,000 miles on her so maybe it does need to get replaced. Thanks for any info in advance. I can't get a fix on the size of that piece.

What is it sitting on..??

How about another picture with a coin to help scale it.

At work right now. I'll take a picture with a quarter next to it when I get home. It's sitting on the lid of my trash can.

That looks about an inch long.

Where did you find the piece? If it's floating inside the overflow tank, did you check the o-ring under the radiator cap?

It is about that long. I have checked under the cap and it was found in my Crawford coolant tank, not the overflow plastic tank.

That is from your cold air box. Its the lip that meets the cold air tube, as if you were changing the air filter.

Well, I suggest you take that piece and lay it on a piece of paper and "complete the circle" using your drawing or geometry skills.

I'll betcha you will find that the circle would "fit" your coolant/radiator cap.

If so, and the gasket has been compromised, the pressure would be decreased and the coolant temperatures would increase.

Maybe you need a new coolant/radiator cap ..... ??

I'll find out from the dealership soon hopefully. Traded her in on a fucking Corolla. Just can't afford to keep dumping thousands every other month to keep it running.
