Ring Taxi vs Lambo/GT4
Loved watching this video of the M3 keep up with the GT4/Lambo 750-4. The whole point being how an experienced driver can keep up with the big boy toys..very entertaining nonetheless...

Don't quite know what's going on. Did the Taxi driver and the Lambo driver agree to race?

Overall it is hard to say if this video clearly demonstrates that statement. It is clear that the Lamborghini had to initiate passes and the rest got to follow, and there were many opportunities to catch up when there were cars blocking the Lamborghini's path, so who knows if there would have been a huge gap. Then there is the fact that the M3 is no slouch in power or performance. Obviously it is heavier, but chances are it has more power than the gt4, and at that hp and at those speeds, it is likely no one is maxing out their car's performance. Regardless, of course track knowledge and ability matter. The Nurburgring might be the best track to demonstrate that; a NASCAR oval may not be. Maybe this video demonstrates that. Maybe not. |

Sucks the video/audio is out of sync. Definitely wouldn't mind a lap in the taxi before I rented a car to go round.
Also not sure of the context, didn't watch the whole thing or read the article. But not everyone driving around the ring in a fast car is there to set lap records. I see plenty of expensive/fast cars at HPDE that are just there for a "sunday drive" (for lack of a better word)
