Parking Brake Light Illuminates Randomly

So this is more of an annoyance now, than an actual issue with my parking brake.
It started this winter and happens more often when it is cold outside (0°C)
when braking to come to a stop the ebrake light illuminates on my dash, and then goes away soon after taking off from a stop, there doesnt appear to be any ebrake application happening, handle all the way down etc, dont feel any resistance or anything, its just the light turning on that kinda bothers me,
Even when its warm outside this happens too but more so when coming to a hard stop or even just slowing down quickly (when getting cut off etc)

Any ideas ?

Just to clarify the above. It's not just "parking brake light". It's also brake system malfunction light. I'd have it checked ASAP, brakes are pretty important for safety. Generally, red warning lights are not to be ignored.

Yep, like said ........ check the fluid level and make sure it is "really" up to the full mark ...... not just close.

Sorry to sound like a **** here, but you've had an issue with the brake system since winter and haven't bothered to even check the Owner's Manual to see what the light means? This is why we can't have nice things!

No worries gents, no offence taken,
Honestly had I felt that there was actually an issue with my brakes as far as them not operating properly, or they felt like shit or w/e then maybe I would have taken that light showing up differently...
Theyve worked perfectly so it didnt seem like any cause for concern, figured it was a sensor or something going screwy with the cold, or partial sticking or something keeping tension on one side. Idfk lol

Anyways! Thanks though, maybe ill brush up on my owners manual before coming here next time lol

Is it the brake indicator with the exclamation mark or ABS in the center of it? If the exclamation mark one then you may have a brake problem. If the ABS one then you are just stopping quick enough for the ABS system to be activating. Would explain why it happens more when cold or panic stops. What tires are you running?

It is indeed the Parking Brake Light (ebrake) as I mentioned,
And I can confirm my brake fluid is low after checking this morning before I took off for work. Like its right above the Min Line, so after work Ill top it up and see if it keeps happening.
Just 2 weeks ago I looked at my brakes while rotating tires, and theres still some life too them, no signs of uneven wear left to right between fronts or rears, nothing standing out as if theyre not working, so I think operationally they are fine, its likely just the fluid..
Lol really wish I had just looked in the manual before starting this thread... Something so simple (assuming its fluid) and Ive made myself look like an idiot for not reading that book in my glove box ahaha

Perfect! Just thought I would bring up the other possibility since the guys in the US don't necessarily know we have different light and they are much easier to mix up than the simple written ones. Wanted to ensure we were covering all the bases.
And ya the manual would have helped but at least you didn't ask the question and then argue with everybody that tried to help. Those are the only true idiots!

Dunno how worn your pads are, but if they aren't too worn out, you might want to hunt around for any signs of a slow leak. Thats a fairly well-sealed system, and you really shouldn't lose any fluid. Unless your pads are all the way down to the wear bars, I'd be suspicious of a slow leak (unless it wasn't properly topped off when you bought it.)

Yes. Don't just "top it off". It is a system that shouldn't consume any of its fluid. So if it is low your brake pads are low or you have a leak. Most likely just pads wearing out.

I would also say try not to ignore your warning lights even if things feel fine. I did a brake job and my brakes felt fine and even did some spirited driving. But in 2 days my brake fluid went from max to min because 1 bleeder was ever so slightly loose.
