Wireless Speakers
Hi all,
My girlfriend and I moving into our first new apartment (entire apartment is about 1000 sqft). Her and I both love having music in the background, so streaming music is second nature to us. Thus far we have been streaming from our MacBooks (she has an Air, I have a 15" Pro). We are looking for a good set of speakers that we can stream to. All that being said, I have heard a lot about Sonos, so I was planning on buying a Play 1 for the kitchen/main living area (which is about 500 sqft of open space), and perhaps a second one for the bedroom. We are moving in in a couple days and it will be about a week before we have internet/a home network up and running. Since they were the same price, I went to Best Buy and bought an Ultimate Ears Boom 2 bluetooth speaker so we can stream music while we clean up the place. After our internet is in, I was going to return the Boom 2 and exchange it for a Sonos Play 1. But after firing up the Boom 2, I'm pretty impressed by the sound. Also, it is battery powered so we can move it from the living area to the bedroom with ease, possibly eliminating the need for a second speaker. I value sound quality, but I'm pretty impressed by the Boom 2. I know this is a Sonos sub, so I expect a little bias, but is the Play 1 really that good? Has anyone had experience with the Boom 2 and the Play 1 to do a comparison? Considering they are the same price, I really don't care which one I end up with, but if one were to give be better sound quality than the other, I'd obviously switch. I have yet to experience the Play 1, and I'm looking for some insight from experienced users. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

You'll probably get a better answer from forums like head-fi.
Found you a review here: http://www.head-fi.org/products/sono.../reviews/13853 To be honest 500 sqft of open space could be tough for a tiny speaker system like this to fill. My basement is around 200 sqft and I used to have a modest Teac Reference 300 mini system with some old JBL ProIII speakers and it was barely enough to do the job imho lol! You might be better off going with a mini system that can accept Wi-Fi streaming. |

so i bought a UE boom 2 back in september since my ex took the only bluetooth speaker with her. I love it, great sound for the small package, good battery life and even in my 2400 sq ft house, the music could be heard everywhere. Now that i'm in my 1000 sq ft apartment its more than adequate.
However like you i wanted another speaker for a different room, or for a more stereo experience. Well i found out you can link 2 UE booms together!!! so i bought a second one. I love it and am very happy using this as my music playing speakers for my place. you can either set them up to play the same (each speaker playing L/R so great in separate rooms) or set them up in stereo (great for the same room)
