Does rain affect how you take care of your 86?

Hi! It's me again.. I guess I'm a curious person. Which gets me asking!

Does the fact that it rains a LOT in the PNW affect how you take care of your car? I guess it matters less for those with a garage, but for people who park on the street / open lots like me - I was curious how much effort I should put to make my car look in top shape.

When I lived in SoCal, it made sense to car wash / wax often - but since it rains so much do you guys just end up not washing your cars that much and just let rain do the work? Do you still wax regularly? How does paint protection stuff work alongside rain? I did some searches on the forum but couldn't find the right answers to these questions. Thanks! :^)

Wash it whenever you like but rain doesn't clean your car Also wax more often for optimal results. Paint protection is basically just wax FYI so dont think its some magic thing that you can only have done at the dealer. Its really just a scam to make more money, I know because I used to sell that stuff hahaha! If you find that the water is not beading off your car that means you have no wax left in that area. Try waxing it every 3 months you should be golden.

Rain just means I wash more often than I would if I were in, say, California. If you're in a dry state just make sure you wipe dust off with a clean microfiber towel and you're fine. If you're getting rained on you need to wash more often or at least use a waterless wash every once in a while followed up with a detail spray or wax.

Luckily, I have my FR-S garaged... this makes a huge difference. If the car has a lot of road grime etc. on it, I always take time to do a light wipe down with a clean WET microfiber to get the oily crud off the paint. Then, I use Griot's Waterless Car Wash to do a clean up.

And... regular applications of wax (especially on the sides and rear).

Lots of work, but it helps keep the rig looking nice -- rain or shine.

I make sure to wash my car just before it rains. If it wasn't forecasted to rain, it certainly will now.

In the summer I wash it in the front yard instead of the driveway.

There's a lot of places but I can't recommend Jim's Detail enough because I know the owner from autocross and he's an awesome guy that cares about his customers.

Can't recommend enough = I recommend it but I can't tell you enough times.
Can recommend enough = Why would anyone ever say this because it's a horribly round-about way of saying if I recommended it once that would be enough to never recommend it again.
