Recommend tire size for 17x8.5 +20?

Recently I want to buy a set of tire for summer. Thinking about either 235/40r17 or 225/45r17, will the 235 flush or a little stretch?

Any suggest will help!

235 should be good since I have 17x9 and I have 235/40 and there's just a bit of stretch but still no poke from the rim.

Wheels do vary on what size tire they can take for the width. Like on my Kojins that are a 17x9 I have a 265 on it.
