Thumbs up Satellite antenna update

I have an update on anybody wanting to update their factory frs antenna to brz antenna connection. As I stated before my eyesight is not what it used to be when soldering small wires. After way to much time and research I have an easy solution to our antenna to sat antenna problems. I had my brz dual sat and radio antenna squared away today. I found a fantastic audio tech at Best Buys named Chris in Hiram Ga. All the different stories you hear about the factory xm/sirrus sat antennas wires cannot be shortened or altered is simply not the case. He cut all the extra remaining xm antenna wire, stripped the end and soldered it to the Brz sat wire lead from my newly installed brz factory antenna. You have to follow the protocol ie solder center sat wire, heat shrink then solder together the outer protective sheathe, then heat shrink to waterproof and sat radio works as advertised. No need for Lexus/toyota sat antenna adaptor, No need to purchase the 3 factory brz antenna leads to the tune of about 150.00 plus. And by shortening the sat antenna wire does not screw up the impedance of the sat receiver and voice distortion. Xm/ and sirrus, radio along with audio parts changers in my opionon recommend not to do this. I chalk it up to either they not knowing and wanting to sale new antennas. We use to have to splice coax cables and silver wires all the time on the F-15,s. So when I finally found out about this tech we talked and he said he performs this sat antenna repairs all the time with no problems. Car washes that break off antennas, sat wires that broken In any form or fashion. Any way took about 20 mints. replaced the headliner snaps, 20.00 and we are good to go. Hope this helps out anybody else trying to make this conversion. Take care Steve
